eBay Mix-Up!
« on: June 02, 2020, 11:52:39 PM »
I'm posting everywhere that I can in hopes that the right person will see it. The eBay seller will not help me, stating that he "cannot" contact the other buyer. So if you recently purchased a Sparkleworks I from eBay and received Sparkleworks II instead, please PM me. I have your pony, and you have mine.

OK that is BS as I totally was a seller once and mixed up mailings and we got it all worked out just fine  also with the assist of ebay support.  I would put in an immediate claim to ebay support for getting the wrong item as you should not be charged at all.  Ebay support in my case also contacted the other buyer involved so kept everything transparent and overall it was just a bit more postage cost for me ( I covered the mail costs of the buyers to forward the packages to each other) because, man, I would never want a buyer to get the wrong pony-item, that is just a horrible seller IMO and I would encourage you to now accept such poor treatment

He sent me a refund yesterday afternoon by cancelling my order. I would have been fine with him keeping his money and exchanging ponies with the other buyer without eBay or the seller involved. I don't think I have any further recourse.

yeah - that was a not cool seller, but I agree, it seems that is all that can be done ATM.  I am betting he probably just refunded the other buyer as well.  There may be a chance you can find the purchase history and contact that buyer directly thru ebay messages?  I've never had that happen specifically myself so don't know...

ebay is tricky that way

all the best on your G3 hunting!

Really though at that price its cheaper to give you the refund and let you keep it then to spend any extra cost on shipping it again.

I remember as a seller once I accidentally sent the wrong item. It was an item I wasn't meaning to sell, they just got confused. The buyer refused to return the item and caused me a lot of hassle over it. I never did get it back, and later had to replace it. While it was my fault that that occurred, I would have been quite happy to send the right item at my expense if the other was returned, and reimburse the shipping. It's the only time I acciidentally sent a collection item by mistake and I've been doubly careful since, because there's no guarantee that the other person in the transaction will want to straighten things out.

I guess for a cheap pony, maybe the seller figured cutting his losses was better.
