G2 variant fakes - How to ID them
« on: May 31, 2020, 06:28:59 AM »
Hi everyone,

I wanted to share this here (if this is the right place. If not, then sorry mods!). There's been some sketchy stuff going on with the G2 variant of Blue Pearl.
But I'm going to include White Pearl in this too, since she can be faked as well.

You can view their respective info pages here:
Variant Blue Pearl a.k.a. Blue Haired Ivy
Regular Blue Pearl
Variant White Pearl a.k.a. Blondie
Regular White Pearl

Unfortunately I've been contacted several times about a possible Blue Pearl scam and I really hate how this has affected the G2 line :(
I won't go into any details here, you can find everything via the links provided below (mainly the Blue Pearl one, which has pictures of the 'fake' one that has been sold twice). Judge for yourself ;)

This has been a thing in the G2 group on FB for a while, but I wanted to post this here too. With a follow-up page for White Pearl (just in case).

I don't think I'll need to make a page for Seabreeze. Her body colour is too different to be faked properly.

So please give these two pages a look and keep it in the back of your head when you're buying:

Tips for Blondie/ White Pearl: http://www.lavenderlagoon.com/fake-blondie.html
Tips for Blue Pearl: http://www.lavenderlagoon.com/fake-blue-pearl.html

Take care!

Thank you for compiling this info!  i would have never known.  I have so few G2s... when I find one at the thrift store, it's like "grabby hands"

Thanks for this info! Very detailed :) Gah, it sucks that it even had to be made, though.

Really good job putting this together, but such a shame it had to be written in the first place. :(
Super good info though! Thank you for sharing! :lovey:

I really don't like it either. It spiralled out of control over at FB...  But when that strange Blue Pearl one was put up for auction I got so many messages with concerns, that it scared me. When two buyers contacted me after purchasing that weird pony, I decided to make this.
Hope it helps guys, also when doubting any other wacky G2 you might come across :)

Gusty's pretty common, too, and that never stopped the fake Reverse Gustys from being made.

Oh I don't doubt it's happened before but I wasn't sure if that was the case here or if they are being mass produced.

The actual variants are quite htf. They tend to go for $100 +
