My first ooak doll!
« on: May 24, 2020, 12:51:14 PM »
A little while ago, I decided to bite the bullet and make a ooak doll after waiting YEARS to do it. Since I’m in isolation, might as well have some project, right?

Tabitha Geer is the wife of my upwind TTRPG character Meteora. She works as a florist/gardener, with her plants being some of the best in the land. She is a soft spoken individual, but very headstrong and stubborn when she has to be. Tabitha is the calm to Meteoras storm, and the two work very well together. They sealed their vows in a pair of heart shaped lockets, and she always awaits for her love to return from deployment. Her favourite flower is the pink tulip, a symbol of caring and good wishes. Ironically what she hopes to share in life!

For my first ever project like this, I’m very proud. She was rerooted using “Giselle” from the doll planet, and her dress made from a free pattern on requiemart.com. I learnt a lot about sewing, and drawing the face.

WOW! Oh I adore her, what a cute face!  I'd say she looks much better than the original doll! The brown hair suits her very well and the details in the clothing & necklace are great.

I’m so glad to hear you like her! I really wanted to make her look nice, since this is the culmination of years drooling over other custom artists.
One of the details I forgot to mention in the first post is her tiny spade. I really wanted her to have some kind of accessory that wasn’t worn.

Another detail is one that specifically related to the game itself. Upwind is a TTRPG that uses a standard playing card deck rather than dice to decide outcomes. You can use your “magic” called potential by associating a suit of cards to your magic element. Clubs for arc, hearts for rain, spades for wind and diamonds for ore. She is affiliated with the ore potential, and has small diamonds on her shoes as a reference to that.

I’m glad you like her! I was aiming for a bit of a bright eyes expression. For her face, I sat down and thought of what other characters would say if asked to describe her. And bright, wide eyes was one of the things that I felt come up often.

She does kind of look a bit Disney esque, lol. I never would have thought about it until you brought it up, but she does somewhat look like she could fit in the background of beauty and the beast. Maybe once I make her partner, I’ll have to get one photo of them with reference to the movie.

That sounds lovely, please let me know when that happens :)
