Urban Explorers Find Abandoned Home With G1 MLP Merch Inside

I really enjoy watching Urban Exploration videos, where people go inside old abandoned hospitals/schools/factories/hotels/theme parks etc. Most places have been emptied out, but some places still have furniture and documents inside.

In this video the explorers are looking inside this old abandoned home, which is amazingly still filled with the previous owner's belongings. At 13:56 minutes they show a G1 MLP board game.  No other pony stuff inside, but I thought it was pretty cool that they found it and filmed it.

interesting!  i would have struggled to leave anything there, though!  if it's truly abandoned, someone else will love the G1 things hahahaha

Cool! I've seen g1 stuff in an urban exploration video before (a Baby Cuddles and a g1 plushie, I think) but that was in Picher, Oklahoma so it was more sad and haunting than anything.

I wonder what the story behind this abandoned house is?

I know urban exploring can be very dangerous...but man, I would love to do it and stumble upon somebody’s ponies. It’s a kind of secret dream of mine, like something that will never happen. But if it did that would be amazing!

Cool! I've seen g1 stuff in an urban exploration video before (a Baby Cuddles and a g1 plushie, I think) but that was in Picher, Oklahoma so it was more sad and haunting than anything.

Dan Bell, yes. The plush was a Starshine. Years after seeing that video I *still* think about it.
I wonder if they're able to take those things and try to give them to new owners?

Removing the items would rob them of context.  I think it's much more poignant to see a MLP item abandoned in a house like this, where you can see how it was part of everyday life, than to see one in a thrift shop where it's just another piece of merch.  (It would also be stealing and I think bad karma within the urban explorer community.)

The video was great and the line that impacted me the most was "To think that at the end it was probably one lonely old man or woman living in this house with all these empty bedrooms."

Edit: I read the comments section and they said someone bought the house later, for $15k, and started renovating it.  A happy ending for a sad house.

Sadly I doubt it, considering the reason why Picher was abandoned (the toxic mine tailing dust all over the town and in its air).

And I agree with LadyMoondancer, they may not be cherished as toys where they are now but they're part of history, which I think is more meaningful.

I also think removing the items would be wrong simply because the house belongs to someone or some other entity that took it over -usually a bank.  Technically, they need the owner's permission to even be in the house. People can still be sued if someone gets hurt on abandoned property, so I would want a contract that won't happen if I gave permission.

It would be so hard to resist though, so that's why it is heartwrenching to see a collectible that you appreciate, just *being there*.

I definitely understand this, although I think it would be nice if previous owners of the house were able to be contacted and asked if they would want the items back. I know I would if I were in their situation but hey maybe that's just me. In any case I'm glad that at least this house can be made into a home for somebody who needs it.

Pony stuff aside, I enjoyed watching the video. I had kind of a reaction of mixed horror and incredulity...horror at the condition of the place and awe at how grand the house must have been in its heyday. Two things disturbed me: first off, how there appeared to be buckets and kiddie swimming pools placed all over the house to catch leaking water...like the people who lived there were just content to live that way, stepping around overflowing pools of rainwater pouring in their home rather than fixing the roof. Sad that nobody helped them if they couldn't do it themselves/afford to have it done. Also, the way the photographer zoomed in on the photos of the children who had presumably lived there or were relatives of those who did...seems like a violation of their privacy somehow. This whole thing is sad; I really wonder what happened to the people, and why they left.

I thought it would be from the Proper People I've watched a lot of their episodes.
It's both always very sad and strangely beautiful to see abandoned places.

Anyhow, I'm glad the property got bought and restored ^^
