I have one I got in a lot that was pretty messy and I was able to get her back to how she should be...unfortunately that was years ago and i don't remember exactly what I did. Most likely I washed and conditioned in lukewarm water, and then...if you kind of pull it while twisting it in the direction it "wants" to go, it will try to form itself back into the correct curl. Sorry I can't give you better instructions But it turned out really well!
I saw someone doing curls with straws and bullclips on FB.
I find that the inside of a ballpoint pen is good for tiny, tight curls. I use those cheap papermate pens. They haven't leaked on me once, thankfully.

Its very encouraging...That's my wee petite with the restored ringlet curls It was fiddly but I achieved that by using toothpicks.If it's not a ringlet restore, then I find using the same methods as you would use on a normal sized pony's hair works just fine. Wash, condition; straighten and re-curl if required.
