Seapony weights. Remove or keep?
« on: May 01, 2020, 08:36:07 AM »
I got 2 gorgeous seaponies today but as we all know, they contain the infamous metal weights... Now my first thought was behead, remove weight, and wash thoroughly but these are in very good shape with the I'm marrying still sealed and no current signs of mildew inside but you never really know until you look... What would you do? Leave them as is and risk future mildew or nip the problem in the bud? I'm a bit torn. ***EDIT*** I decided to peek inside just to see... They were both BLACK inside! Removed the weights but keeping them in seperate little baggies in case I ever resell. Glad I did that. Check your seaponies ya'll!

When I got my Whitecap, I didn't even see any mold or rust in her until I decided to try a hydrogen peroxide soak and took her head off...I would personally remove the weights and replace with a marble or something (I think I used either a rock from outside or a glass marble from somewhere around the house) because I'd be afraid of it rusting down the line.

I had to remove & replace some sea pony weights. I painted them all over before they went back in.
My Mascots (so far): Twisty Tail, G2 Trixiebelle, Starcatcher, Twilight Sparkle. All variants & pictures of these are appreciated. Piccies courtesy of Griffin, Blumiere, Littlebabyribbon, & Starscout

The only adult sea pony I have is Wavedancer/Wavebreaker. She still has her weight. I should probably remove it but I worry that I might damage the pony trying to take it out.

I assure you, unless you are the only owner of the Seapony ever, and you know she never went in the water, you probably want to get in there and scrub out that pony, no matter how nice she looks on the outside.
