Royal Rose - does she have fading pink hair?
« on: March 24, 2020, 02:57:31 AM »
Could someone please help me out by confirming whether the lighter pink in Royal Rose's hair is fading pink or not? The pictures I found of her online in a played with condition all show her with pink hair, which makes me believe it isn't the fading type, but since I'm totally no G3 expert, and don't have a lot of G1s who have really pink fading pink hair, I can't really determine.

I just found one with lovely bright pink hair, and I wouldn't leave her out if that would risk her hair losing its colour.

Thanks a lot for the help in advance! :lovey:

I think so, yes. I've come across a Desert Rose faded Stark white so any pink of that shade can fade...

There's a shade of light pink that's pretty matte looking and is not fading. Sure her pink streak look shiny, but it seems to be a bit more vibrant than fading pink. I've seen a few on the internet and she doesn't seem to fade at all. She's maybe not fading pink, in my opinion. But I've never seen her in real life so I can't tell for sure.

Thank you for the responses! That's what my dilemma was, too... the ones I've seen on the internet all had vibrant pink hair, it seemed unlikely not to come across pictures of faded-haired ones if the hair was indeed fading. But then, there's the counterevidence from pinkkittywinks and tailrustedtealeaf  Is it possible that she had two variants, did things like this happen to ponies e.g. made in different factories? Again, I'm not sure how pink fading pink was when it was new, but to me this hair looks just a bit too vibrant and shiny to be the then fresh-out-of-factory-colour fading pink.

I guess I don't want to just wait and see, so she won't be staying out with the other pegasi then...

In g2, there was a very vibrant orangy pink similar to fading pink that did not fade. I'm thinking of some Ivy. Maybe that's the same sort of hair.

I have one and my girl's hair is pretty bright, so I don't think so.

Okay, today I grabbed my Baby Cotton Candy whom I thought had relatively nice pink hair, and took some photos of her next to Royal Rose (and a totally faded Baby CC). It shocked me to see how much more vibrant RR's hair is! Before having them next to one another, I thought the colour difference to be much less.

With this, I'm even less sure about her having fading pink hair - but the experiences with her hair fading still make me think she might have been produced with both types of hair? Any thoughts?

After the above pictured experience I grabbed RR and compared her to Glitter Glide as well, who I know has a fading pink top streak, as I have two of her, one with a pink and one with a white streak on top. While earlier I thought their pinks match, next to one another GG's* hair is notably less vibrant and less pink. Then again, her hair can also be somewhat faded (I got her second-hand), but it is much closer in colour to Baby Cotton Candy's hair (though CC's hair has a more peachy undertone).

*did it occur to anyone else too that all the ponies I'm talking about in this post have alliterating names? *geek* :P

I think your guys idea of two different batches of pink has merit so that could be. Because my girl gets some sun and is fine, furthermore, when put her next to Aurora Mist and G3 Cotton Candy who does have fading pink, the color difference is obvious.

I would call the Royal Rose that I have to match Dollyhair's Pussycat shade of pink. I haven't had any issues with the color fading.

She does indeed have "fading pink" hair. The matches for rehairing would be Bunny from RetroDolls US, Pixie Dust from RetroDolls UK, or Pussycat from My Little Customs or Dollyhair.

My pony room currently has fluorescent lighting, so the colors are washed out here. She's way more vibrant in person.
