There was a prototype Sundance in the collectors pose, but it doesn’t look like she ever made it to full production. You can find it on the wiki under their prototype section.

I don’t know much about the prototypes, but I personally would love to have a prototype takara pony. Takara themselves are pretty rare, but a prototype...that would be one of (if not the) wildest pony dream come true. I would also like a prototype of the birthday pony. She looks great as is, but that yellow just makes her look a bit more festive.

Prototype adult Takaras were sold in September 2018 (without eyes but apart from that they looked like the original ones).

There was a prototype Sundance in the collectors pose, but it doesn’t look like she ever made it to full production. You can find it on the wiki under their prototype section.

We've never proven a paper trail that firmly authenticates either pony or story. I'm not ruling out that one could exist, just that I need more robust evidence. Right now it's still hearsay.

I'll explain in a spoiler so as not to derail the thread.

You have to realise that in the late 1990s an easy tactic to make someone believe in a variation (like white haired Posey) was to call it a UK version (including on DV). It made people hyper-suspicious when a story links a pony to the UK without due diligence being done to verify it.

The biggest problem with Sundance is the provenance that she came from a ponymeet in the UK. Unfortunately at the time the seller claimed she was found here at an advertised MLP meets, MLP meets did not happen. Not till at least 5 years later.

Number two is the manufacture. She's made in HK. All Sundances in the UK are NC. It feels more likely the UK was chosen because Europe had the CP AJ and Bow Tie, but they were here a whole year before and didn't revert back ton the US pose afterwards. We had the same pose as the US, but not made in HK. It's awkward to see how she would have fitted into our production.

Three, the one photo that emerged that MAY show a Sundance CP in a Hasbro picture has different hair and a differently placed symbol to the one on the Wiki, which must have had a different provenance.

If the story had been that she came from the US and originated around RI I'd be more prepared to believe it. But I want a lot more concrete evidence first. I've really tried very hard to authenticate this pony, but there's nothing in the UK material that even hints of her existence to date, so right now, I don't believe in her.

I'm open to being proven wrong, though. Just with proof. Not hearsay.

On the Toola pic, I do love how her box says Kimono.

I like the colors they went with better. As he reminds me of Denim Blue, but I sure wish he'd gotten normal hair like that one instead of his stupid troll doll hair.

Shining Armour with proper (not buzz cut style either) hair would be great. I'm guessing the troll hair makes it harder to reroot one though (even if I had hair, which I don't - not in blue anyway).

I like both designs for Shining Armour :B the proto kinda reminds me of Knight Shade from the G1 cartoon.

IIRC it's possible to rehair him, it's just a pain in the butt. I'll never know why they went with troll hair for him And for that matter, what's with Hasbro's obsession with giving all the G4 boys mohawks?

I wish all G1 prototypes and g4 protos had been made.
I kinda find it weird that they went about doing G4 Minty the way they did... The prototype Minty looks good  as she is, so I dont get why they would atleast put the black circles on her cutiemark, I mean, its odd itself that they chose black as it kind of cuts hard into the color scheme, why not a darker pink?
