Hello, I haven't been around in a long while because I completed my collection. Well, since completing I ended up having to move to a much smaller place and only have room to display a fraction of the ponies I have and it just is starting to feel kind of like a burden.

There are around 500 ponies, roughly, of varying quality from middling to near mint. I don't have the emotional spoons to sell them individually or make a list, or even if I'm going to do this, but:

What would be the most efficient way to spread them back into the community that wouldn't wreck my time, patience, and wallet?

Advice please. It's really stressful not having room because of these three bins, even if they brought me a lot of joy. But I just don't have space and I'm going to be here for years more.

I would group them up by set or some other connecting feature and throw them up online. Auctions aren't going as high as they may be but they'll go fast, and if there's a rare one it seems those get way more attention. Or you could list them as BiNs to sell.
Alternatively, have people submit wishlists, see who you have, and offer a discount for buying in bulk.

Sell the ponies you like least first.

Then sell the ponies that are easiest to recollect next.

Keep your favourites and any ones you think you can't replace.

Be sure you can part with a pony before you do (ie if it has an emotional memory attached to that specific pony for some reason, keep it, if not, you can always get another one later if you want to).

If you were concerned about getting them into collectors hands.. you could try to sell them locally with a little closed garage sale or something. That would only work if you weren't super rural. But I've personally traveled an hour to someone selling their collection.

After that... the way *I* would do it is to separate rares from commons. Group commons together in a few lots that you think is worth it, with.a bit of variety. Shipping stinks these days, so I can't give advice on quantity... just get a box and see how many fit and how much it weights. Find the most bang for your buck for quantity and weight.

sell anything $20 and up by itself.

In reality there is no balance between time and getting the most money. They are polar opposites. personally I think common lots and cherry picking rares is the balance.

also. Take a look on eBay to get a sense of price. Put in "my little pony lot", look at sold auctions, and then sort high to low.  Don't be afraid to do auctions. They still sell, people just don't do bidding wars anymore so just set it at the minimum you'd like.

Thank you, everyone. I feel a lot less despairy right now than I did earlier and now I think I know what to do if I can make the break. I'm happy to get such swift, good responses!

Thank you again!

I just wanted to say thank you for asking this question - I came here to ask pretty much the same thing! Good luck with your sales. :)
