When I first started collecting I loved going through the wiki and workign out what my ideal G1  collection would be. I've chosen quite a limited collection really, deciding to forego quite a few sets with certain gimmicks or styles etc. I have most of what I want now but I'd love a set of German rainbow ponies and my grail is Cha Cha the Llama. My husband said he'd buy one for me as a present but I haven't found one yet who is suitable. I'm very close to having everything I want in terms of G1 now but there will always be 'nice to haves' and accessories.

I like having some G3 figures around but I'm not generally fussed about the universe they live in so I don't have many accessories. I love having a lot of G4 around and love some of the playsets. I am missing Tirek's pointy staff thing from Canterlot Castle and hope is fading!
 ISO G1 Daffodil, upgrade for June Rose; G1 Waterfall blue towel, G1 Waterfall bubbles bottle with white writing; Perfume Puff Palace green hat, pink bracelet and mesh scarves, glitter combs for SHS, lace scarves for SHS, G3 Flower Wishes and Candy Cane, Baby Northern Lights...Accessories from FiM Collection Canterlot Castle: Tirek's staff, Phoenix and stand, open book  Pony Page  Wish List

My ideal collection would be all US releases & MO's plus one pony from each county. I realize this will never be attainable as SA's are so high up in the market on value.

If I had unlimited space and unlimited money somehow, every pony. One each of all of them. :P That however is wildly unrealistic.... I guess my realistic ideal collection would just be to obtain ones actively on my wishlist.

I would like to have less newer ponies and have more G1s. Though I find myself hitting a brick wall because I still like the newer ones but I know I will run out of space so I am cutting back my newer ponies. I will only keep my favorites. This has been hard me but I have not very many options.  :(

My ideal collection....Ahhhh :) I'm not terribly picky, so the condition of ever5y pony wouldn't have to be perfect. I'd want to complete the G1 ponies, without the series I'm not crazy about (such as the glitter ponies) I do want the G1 play sets, though I do worry about how much space they would take up! I would want all of the G3s that I love, which isn't the whole line, but a good portion of them. I am not sure that I would want the majority of the G3 playsets. I had most of them back in the day, and overall, they weren't the funnest playsets. (Maybe if I had been a kid, lol, the playability would have rated higher to me!) But I would want a couple of them.

I would want a big room to display them in which I would paint in pastel colors. Like maybe pale blue, with clouds and rainbows on the wall. On the walls that didn't have shelves I would want to hang pony artwork. Ideally, the space would be condusive for building pony town, where I could decorate their town for all of the holidays!

I'm happy with my  collection and the way it's going, but ideally, I would love to have at least one or a few of every release (So-soft, shs, bbe, glow-n-show, princess,...), a few Nirvanas from different countries and also have every pony with neon yellow in their hair.(Surprise, Morning Glory, Mimic, rainbow ponies with the tropical hair variant...). I think the latter goal I have mentionned is unusual, but I like it. ^^

My ideal would be a mix of gens in mint/near mint condition--mostly G1 and G3. I'm happy with the ponies I have, but there are a few rare ones I wish I had. I'd like to have all ponies in Posey's pose (and MOCs of my favorites), MOCs, backcards and stickers of any in Posey's pose and special childhood ponies. I'm not sure about collection size because I wish I had a much smaller collection, but I find it hard to part with any. I would not display them all because it makes me feel too cluttered and I hate getting dust on them. So, I'd rotate who I have on display. I wish there were a pony library where we can borrow any pony we want and then return it or a pony museum we could visit anytime.

I would have the collection I have now (always growing), but it would be better organized. It’s not bad, but there are always areas that I’m not happy with how they look. So I suppose I’d just have unlimited time to work on the pony room. Maybe also more space.

G1: Every pony and playset released in excellent condition with accessories, excluding nirvanas. But including German babies and Rainbow and all Dutch ponies. Also a moc/mib or backcard from all the US releases.
G2: Every pony and playset released with all accessories, excluding magic motion
G3: Every pony and playset released mib/moc
G4: Just the earlier ones, with a few exceptions. All moc. Not a huge priority for me.
Also, all Basic Fun Ponies and HQG1C
And a room to display them all. Hopefully, I will have one someday.

I still have quite a bit to go but in over 20 years of collecting, I am actually not too far off from accomplishing this.   :whoa:

Everything ever, including Nirvanas! Plus every fakie! As long as we’re fantasizing, I might as well dream big, right? ;)

Ooh, and a big, pony-themed museum to display them all in!

And of course, no MLP collection would be complete without the legendary bootleg carousel.

My ideal collection would be to finish off all the stuff I've got going on right now, but to have a place big enough to display it all.  Right now about 5% of it is out on display.  The rest is hidden around the house in bins.   It might be a nice novelty to be able to put clothes in one of the several closets in the house.

I have a massive collection(all generations, Nirvanas, accessories, playsets, brochures, backcards, ponywear, merchandise, stickers, petites - basically almost all things from all generations).  I'm getting to the point where unless it's particularly rare or expensive, I probably already have it.  I live in California though, so property is super expensive, and basements do not exist.

Ultimate collecting goal is to have one of every G1 pony and playset ever released, including Nirvanas and variants. A girl can dream, right?

A room big enough to hold everything. But besides that, I think having a decent looking pony of all the G1's would be nice. Display space really comes down to the ultimate problem for me. I like my ponies displayed sideways or partially turned to be able to see the symbols/body types etc, verses just straight on looking at their heads.

Now if we want to get all fancy here..... displaying them in themed shelves and dioramas would be pretty darn awesome. Just imagine grassy platform hills with little trees and my little ponies all standing around. Then there can be the fake water/ocean area for all the sea ponies to hang out in.

Hmm... I don't know... back when I was first collecting I wanted full sets of everything, but now I'm picking up whatever I like. I think I'd prefer a nice, big room to display what I have in. Oh, and playsets! At this point I think I'd rather have playsets. I like taking pictures of my ponies, which is probably why.

A pony room full of playsets and space to take pictures of it all... I'd love to get into diorama making!
