I am so happy. Paradise Estate has been a major grail of mine forever. In all honesty I seriously doubted I'd ever actually get to own it, both because of the size and because of the price. But my dream finally came true! When I got home from work and saw the gigantic box, I seriously squealed out loud. Unboxing it was so thrilling, and I had such a fun time setting it up. It felt like I was a little kid again on Christmas day, overwhelmed with excitement and full of wonder and joy.
It is in perfect mint condition. The original owner either was the most careful child in the world, or they just didn't play with it very frequently. One decal sticker has a bit of damage, but that's seriously the only flaw. The roof is so pink. All the hinges work and it opens and closes smoothly. And it came with all the original accessories and the original box. I can't stop admiring the artwork on the box - it's so beautiful! They really, really don't make playsets like they used to!
It's currently set up in my dining room. It takes up the entire 6-seater table with the tabletop extensions out, and the playset hangs over the edge when opened up. Even though I've seen it in person before, I still got a shock to set it up and see how enormous it is. It was bigger than I remember it being! Personally I think it looks amazing set up on the dining table, but funnily enough the rest of my family is somewhat less enthusiastic about it
Sadly, I will have to pack it up over the next few days and put it away.
But I am in negotiations with my family to convert the smallest bedroom into a pony room, so I am super hopeful that I will be able to display it eventually. One day.
I feel truly and deeply fortunate to be able to tick this major grail off my want list. The excitement will have to sustain me for a while, because after this big acquisition I'm going to have to scale back on collecting. Other financial commitments have to take priority for now, but hopefully I'll still be able to pick up a pony every now and then. And I can use the time away from active collecting to (hopefully) assemble my new pony room!
Sometimes pony dreams do come true!
