Can anyone identify these old horse toys?
« on: January 02, 2020, 01:23:02 PM »
I was given some old horse toys as a kid and I've never figured out who made them.

The middle horse has the most beautiful wooden and leather saddle. It has amazing detail! It's the only thing that makes me think maybe these weren't just Breyer fakies. The light and dark colored horse both have "Hong Kong" written on their underside, but the horse with the saddle doesn't have any markings at all.

I need to (hopefully) rehome them. I would love to see them go to a collector but if they're not wanted then I'll just donate them.

The middle one looks like a 1960's "running foal" model, but should say Breyer Molding Co. somewhere on his underside.  The saddle probably is not original to him.  The other two I don't know.

The one in the middle is a Breyer running foal named "Spice". He was sold from 1961 to 1987. I think he'd be worth keeping  :satisfied:.

The other two are cheap knockoffs based on Breyer horses.

The saddle seems to be a keychain of a Mexican saddle. I see them often at the flea market.

Thanks so much everyone! I flipped over the foal and gave it a harder look and finally found the Breyer logo. I just assumed it'd be on the belly or hooves so I didn't look harder than that initially.

I'd never heard of keychain saddles before either. I'm so happy to finally have this little mystery solved. :)

The one to the left looks like a mini version of the Breyer fighting stallion. Might be worth a few bucks for Breyer customizers.
