Restoration help? - What is this and how can I remove it?
« on: December 30, 2019, 09:18:25 AM »
Yesterday, I went to my local thrift and I found this mail order(?) Confetti. She's really pretty, but she has these marks that just won't come out no matter how hard I tried.

I'm a relatively new collector so I don't know much about restoration... I would just like to know what these marks are, and how to remove them.
Thanks!!

the yellow ones are highlighter and i'm not sure what the others are. sometimes you don't wanna know...
anyway i would suggest trying to sunfade those (you can find tutorials scattered about), it might even brighten her color up a bit! (confetti was white)

Is Confetti one of the ones that browns in the sun? You might want to be careful sunfading her.

confetti is prone to sunburns, be careful. my confetti is beige but I don't wanna risk it.

(Not a mail order Confetti! Just her standard store release.)
Sometimes things just stain. I think if paint is on a pony for too long, certain pigments will stain. I usually go Magic Eraser, then acetone, and then, if you are very careful and check frequently, you may have luck with sunfading, but white ponies do tend to tan delightfully in the sun.
