Do You Prefer Auctions or Direct Pricing for MLP Stuff?
« on: November 27, 2019, 06:24:19 PM »

I literally have boxes of ponies and other MLP stuff (i..e accessories, playsets, etc.) that I need to sell.  I've been putting this project off for a long time.... several years! But, I need to pay bills and would actually like to have electricity and internet for Christmas! Lol! (Actually, I'm being serious and not joking there, but it makes me feel better to try to laugh at my life right now ).

As I start out on this venture, I think the biggest question I have would be whether you would refer direct listing (i.e. buy-it-now) or an auction? I've had way too many problems in the past from selling directly to people and therefore have gone back to the entire eBay thing. I'm just looking for opinions on the best methods for selling stuff? I posted this Under "For Auction" because this seemed to be the best place for the most accurate feedback....

Once I get started I'l make a new thread where  I can list everything as I get it posted because I realize that it is going to probably take several days to get everything ready and listed. That way, I can keep updating it  (i.e. once or twice a day depending on the number of items etc.)

Okay, now to get to work and begin the process of getting stuff together..... But, seriously, let me know your thoughts.

Thank you in advance.

Crystal

If you're selling individual ponies, I think it's best to do BiN. As for lots, I think an Auction with a BiN price is the best of both worlds, unless you're really unsure. Auctions for single ponies that aren't super sought after I see sticking around for a few rounds.

It can be a hard time to sell at this time of year, in saying that particular htf ponies can sell very high (Christmas wish list).
I would pull the pricer ponies ($50 plus) and list them on eBay at a reserve you are happy with (higher end pricing) and let them be.
For common ponies bundle and bin

I always prefer BiNs, I'm more likely to buy a pony for say $15 than bid my way up to $15, if that makes sense. Auctions make me nervous, and I always miss them anyway.
I agree with nhal039 though, put more sought after/pricier ponies as auctions and BiN the cheaper ones, possibly in bundles :) good luck!

I like BIN's or auctions with BINS but also with the offer option.

I prefer BINs, but I see the practicality from both sides in regards to auctions.

I only buy BINs because of how unclear auctions are. You never know whos gonna outbid you.

Thank you very much! I'm starting out with mostly BiN based on your feedback. I've got some decent rarer G1 ponies in the mix so I'll probably try to auction those. Listing is slow because I tend to be more thorough than most... everything is carefully cleaned and gone through. I even try to include the "M" numbers on the accessories whenever I can because sometimes items that look and function the same really are different "parts" even though they can be functionally interchangeable.

Eek! If I'm not careful, I'll type myself into a new topic. ;)
