experience with kinked hair?

hi! i have plans to make a custom of my quagga pony, and i want her hair to have "afro" texture but definitely not purfume puff texture. I've found pre-kinked nylon hanks on etsy, does anybody have any experience with using them, especially in ponies? or would it be better to kink it myself, and whats the best method for doing that?  :lookround: I also have an airbrush now so i think ill use that on her head/stripes and start with a white pony base (i think pony bride!)
any tips/tricks/comments appreciated! <3

nice design!
can you link the hair? would be nice to see!
you could rehair her in nylon, wrap tiny strands around a needle and heat it to get curls. afterwards, you could pull the locks apart for volume. - but maybeee- is there a shop for kanekalon hair next to you? i would look out for the artificial hair that people really braid into their hair, it does have a similiar texture, i think.

for rehairing, i would use a method where you push the hair from the top into the head and not pull it throught the neckhole.
the no-knot-glue method seems to be the best?

Well that looks like a pretty good match! Like AnnaPommes suggested, the rehair tool should work nicely.
