It was fine when I got it...
« on: November 15, 2019, 10:11:36 AM »
Not too long ago I found out my Sherbet, who was one of my first g1s and a favorite of mine for how absolutely perfect she looked, got a terrible head/body mismatch at some point while on my shelf.

Ever had a pony deteriorate while in your possession? If so, what did you do?

I had an amazingly mint Wave Runner.  Like her child owner opened her, never played with her, and then she ended up at a thrift store.  I had to store/hide my ponies when in my 20's and 30's so family wouldn't know about my pony obsession.  One day I pulled Wave Runner out, and was horrified to find her head now much darker than her body.  I was so upset.  This happened to my Majesty as well.  Nothing to do until people find away to fade ponies back to normal.

Once I had a near perfect Party Time. She had some small pen marks on her leg and the coating on her eyes wasn't flawless, but other than that? She's known to get horrible regrind and mine didn't have any. Then one day as I was doing some hair matching I noticed a spot on her head - it was regrind. Last time I looked her over she had some more pink spots just on her head.

All my "childhood"/play G4s have this issue. I don't remember them looking this bad when we got them, the mismatch is off the charts!

My Caramel Crunch was pretty much mint when I got her at a local flea market a couple of years ago. She had a pristine body and beautiful factory curls. About a year after I got her I noticed a slight head/body mismatch and it just broke my heart. It's still barely noticeable, and her hair hides it well on display, but it's enough to bother me just a tiny bit. She's still one of my nicest G1s, though.

That’s what happened to my Twilight.  Now she belongs to my friend’s kid.  They are a cute pair.

I got a g2 mc'd figure in a flea market. She was in great condition, great nylon tail and all. I was happy with my purchase.

A few moments later, the very same day, I've settled at a table to eat something before moving on to other booths. There, I wanted to have a look at my newcomers and... I don't know why exactly, but I gave a gentle swist to her tail without thinking much about it and her tail just.. fell off. The glue has probably rotten the hair or something. Now she is almost tail less, there are only TWO strands that barely keep her whole. I feel absolutely awful for breaking her. She has been pristine for 20+ years and I broke her like an absolute idiot.  :yikes:

It occured months ago, maybe last year. But when I think about it, it suuuuucks. So. Much.  :cloud:

G4 deterioration... is so depressing. -_- I’ve never seen anything age quite so badly as G4 toys. Head/body mismatch (I’ve even seen it in MiB stuff) is rampant. I can’t even FIND a Wave 1 EQG Pinkie Pie that doesn’t have some level of mismatch.

G3 divine shines... I got mine when they came out in 06. I took meticulous care of them (I was already an older kid who knew what collecting was, lol) and made sure to store my ponies in cool dry places out of direct sunlight. But now my Secret Wish is starting to get the orangey tinge and the dissolving glitter. It does sting a bit that my collection from when I was already an "older" kid is already breaking down :(

I also had a G1 Party Time with no regrind, but then all my ponies were packed up for a couple months because we were trying to move, and when I took everyone back out she had a pink spot on her neck.

My Whizzer has a head and body mismatch.

I know this is off topic but I left Shelly/Kelly pink onesie in the conservatory and it’s faded.
