G2 Acetone Problem?

Hello,

I recently bought a G2 pony at UK Ponycon. It had some small pink marks on it, but I didn't mind. It was cheap, and I thought I could remove them.
I got my acetone out this evening and tried to remove the marks, but have instead ended up damaging the plastic! It'gone all rough where I tired the acetone 
Why is this? When I've done this before on other ponies it hasn't happened.

If anyone has any answers or personal experience, I'd really appreciate it.

I've noticed on the 25th anniversaries that after using nail polish (which has acetone in it) the plastic felt different. Not as bad as what happened to you but still there. I've never used straight up acetone though. I've used it on Secret Star as well but as far as I know, nothing happened. Sorry this happened to you.

There are some types of plastics that will actually degrade when mixed with acetone. I've accidentally melted things before with it. I was able to smooth the areas out with a magic eraser afterwards and then switched to non-acetone remover for most things.

What Duenia said. G4s are very easy to damage in the same way. Both G2 and 4 are made of a harder plastic that G1 and 3 and can react quite differently to chemicals.

Acetone can definitely react with plastics. A safer option is rubbing alcohol (surgical spirits), though it is sometimes not as effective unfortunately. Sorry to hear about your pony!
