Tailless Ponies-What to Do?
« on: October 08, 2019, 06:55:24 PM »
Hey, hope no one minds if I- *opens a can of worms*
Tails are pretty easy to replace, yeah? Manes aren't so easy to replace. I'm not really a customizer, at least not on G1 ponies. I like to rehair, though, and I'll look for baits that have good bodies but bad manes and tails.
What to do if we have a pony, say, Glory, fairly easy to find, but with a pristine mane and no tail? Should I replace the tail and sell her? Wait for one with a manecut?
Is she bait?
Just looking on some perspective, I suppose. I do like to preserve when I can, and I'd hate to destroy a perfectly good head when I'm sure there are plenty poor quality ones.

I'd retail her personally. Or sell her on to someone looking for a beginner's restoration project.  That's how I got my Seashell.

Honestly she goes cheap either way ya slice n dice it, so its not going to lower her price drastically to sell her as a restored pony.

I would agree with LAW the price wont drastically change. Either find a new tail or maybe she could become a perfume puff pony im thinking of doing that with one of my commons.

She's not bait if she's only missing a tail. Personally, I wouldn't bother retailing her if you're just going to sell her. Maybe you could trade her for someone who needs a full rahair and tail if you're looking for a project pony.

Personally I'd say not bait especially if she has good symbols and is nice other than the missing tail.

I have bought tails taken from bait ponies by customizers and given them to tailless ponies. =D Easy enough for common ponies but harder to come by for uncommons and rares of course...

Oh, good idea.  :satisfied: I do like to look out for mane-less ponies, I should just swap them around.

I'd wait for a pony with a cut mane but a good tail and make one good pony and one custom puff... then keep both

Don't do what I did as a kid and snip a lock off of another pony to share.  :pout:

Re-tail them with a toning tail if you haven't got a spare exact match.

I've got a lovely white Gingerbread who came without a tail - she's now got a plain blue one which matches her blue stripe. And a Seashell who has a rainbow tail that was a spare.
My reasoning is that should they ever be sold on it is an obvious repair, but that the pony is in display condition for those who don't mind repair/restoration.

Missing a tail is absolutely not bait-worthy. That's such a minor problem.

Personally, I prefer my G1s without tails so I'll scoop them up that way any time I get the chance.
