This very purple custom was an experiment in dying a pony to cover age spots. I know using dye comes with a lot of possibilities for going wrong - so I used a baity Majesty who was badly spotted with what was either age spots or marker which failed to sunfade. Thankfully the purple covered these spots, although she will be displayed carefully to avoid staining other ponies. Interestingly I had to learn that it takes Rit Dyemore dye to dye the vinyl of pony bodies (regular Rit works on their nylon hair).
I’m very pleased with her! She is now Ophiuchus, or at least that’s her symbol, and she now has a permanent spot in my own collection.

First is as she came to me (as a bait) and second is after cleaning, attempted sunfading (6 months peroxide soak), and some hair straightneing (she wasn't in as good of shape as I would have liked, and so I wanted to experiment with some dye. I've had better results depending on the damage, I'm always trying to push my restoration work, but I like to customize too. Here's some of my better restoration work, if you're curious.
