Anyone have tips on needle felting?

(1/1)

Thimble:
So I've tried several projects, mostly fiddling around, and while youtube is pretty good for explaining the basics, so far I have not figured out how not to have a fuzzy result. I mean, the piece can be completely dense, with no way to continue poking without breaking my needle, and I still have fuzzies floating from the surface.
Whyyyyyy?
Any tips greatly appreciated. ^.^

My sister needle felts! You want to tuck the top fuzz in by only stabbing your project a bit, don't go all the way through.
You could try wet felting depending on the result you want.

Hmmm I had considered the wet felting, but given the thickness of the projects, and my lack of dryer, I've been worried about it possibly going sour and smelling bad if I try it.  Heaven knows my towels do that all the time, *sigh*

Could you ask her if I'm supposed to have all the colors before I start poking or is it better to do it layers. I seem to always hit a 'too dense to keep going point' with layers, but then the outside is always too loose..
