Hair Colors on a Pony

Just thought this would be fun to see people's opinions. I was designing some new OCs and I always have a habit of designing ponies with 3-4 hair colours.

I like G1 ponies where they only have one stripe too, like Gusty or Powder! I like two-tone hair when the mane is a bit... asymmetrical? Like the aforementioned ponies or G2s. If it's half/half I'm not crazy about it. I usually don't like solid-coloured hair. Twinkle eyes all have ~4 colours in their hair which is why I like them so much.

It depends on the pony's design really. Some are beautiful at 1 or 2. Some are stunning with 3 or more.

Some look bland and blah with 1 or 2 and some are too busy and clashy at 3 or more.

     It usually depends on how the rest of the pony looks, but from my standpoint, three or less is good. I don’t mind more colours, but it can sometimes make the character look a bit crowded to me, with so many colours. But it can be done, if done right. Again, it usually depends on the rest of the pony-personality and body colours usually.

It all really depends on the pony. Having four colours suits the twinkle eyed ponies and the rainbow curl ponies, but I think it would look way too busy on, say, a twice as fancy pony. Well, milky way has her blue Streak but it works since her symbols are more muted then the other twice as fancies. But can you imagine up up and away with four hair colours, on top of her magenta body and yellow/green balloons?? (I personally think she's too busy looking as it is, when her hair is it's original pink. It looks way better when it's faded to white)

Overall I tend to prefer ponies with 3-4 hair colors. Of course it depends on the pony, but it seems like my favorites generally have very colorful hair.

I think that’s part of why I find the mane 6 extra boring (other than being re released 100 times of course) - other than Twilight and Rainbow Dash the ponies all have one color hair! And even in Twilights toys it’s usually reduced to two colors. I hope the next generation will be a little more colorful.

Agree with this.
Also depends on what the mix of colours are.

I like super colorful. Three or more is my vote.

I don't really have a solid preference. I agree with those that say it depends on the pony. Some might look good with multiple colors while some might not.

I agree with all previous posts. This is why we adore these toys... because it's always great to find new characters with particular color schemes, each one different from the other, it doesn't matter how many colors it is... And I have to say that Generation 3 offered us the best combinations, IMHO

I would think that it depends on the pony like others have said. I do not mind if they have more than 3 colors if they are a rainbow or raincurl. I do like one stripe on unicorns it makes them classic ponies.
