A tricky restoration... [Red Roses]
« on: August 03, 2019, 12:08:06 PM »
Sooo...I'm sure we've all had ponies that were 'beyond hope' and get turned into customs, rehaired, thrown in the bottom of a box and forgotten about, right?

I almost ended up scalping this Red Roses and giving her straight hair (actually quite disappointed that I didn't get to do that, so if you have a truly baity RR, let me know!), but when it came to it I just couldn't do it! She had just about enough hair left to play with, so I thought I'd step up to the challenge and restore her to her former glory.

Check out the before pics...

She had half a rusty tail, a buzz cut in several areas including the forelock, faded hair, general grime, dirt and god knows what else inside, but look at her now!

She actually looks better on display than my other RR that I had always thought of as 'mint'!

I'm always deeply impressed by the restoration process - it's an art in it's own right.

You did a great job, she looks phenomenal! What did you rehair her with?

I'd also love to know what you rehaired her with. Did you keep any of the original hair and just add to it, or full replacement? I can't even tell it isn't original!

Thanks guys!

Her forelock was rehaired with the usual nylon Pussycat, then I re-pinked what was left of her hair (which was not as easy as nylon!), took some hair from her tail and used that to rehair her mane. I took out the washer, and then neatened up what was left of her tail which by this point was very thin. I used some acrylic yarn that was a matching pink to fill out the tail and blended it in with the original hair.

Hope that helps! The yarn colour was spot on - it was called Icy Pink. I think it should show up on Google if you search for it :)
