Bowtie color variant?
« on: July 17, 2019, 02:17:03 PM »
I keep seeing posts regarding a dark blue bowtie 35th anniversary pony. I wasnt aware there were two different shaded ponies? Anyone have pics or info?

I think my Basic Fun Bowtie is the dark Bowtie.

My picture makes her mane a tail look a little darker pink than it really is.

Here's a picture of my "light" retro Bow Tie for comparison. Her body color is almost the same shade as the word "Classic" on her packaging.

She's still quite a bit darker than even a "dark blue" vintage Bow Tie.

I just looked at mine and the mane and tail looks about the same shade as BlushingBlue's so I'm not sure if mine is a dark Bowtie, but she still seems really dark to me.

Mine looks really dark too.  But her hair is really pale.  So I don't know.

Here she is in two different lighting settings:

I her photos look lighter/darker depending on what monitor I'm using. Darn.

Well, I think mine is the lighter kind, but now I'm not sure. People have said that the dark blue Bow Tie is like Nachtlicht's color, which I would imagine is a significantly darker shade than the one I have, but I don't have a Nachtlicht to compare to.

Yeah I vaguely remember a pic , I thought she was dark blue.. but now I can't find a pic.

The whole thing reminds me of that elephant beanie baby..

I only found one of her so far, shelves have been pretty barren around here otherwise. I think she was a darker-bodied one. (My BFF has Bowtie for her army pony and I found one for her the day of her birthday. It was in a bigger market area, those shelves were stocked!)

Bow Tie doesn't seem to be coming out here, so the only one I've seen is my sister's and that came from Sweden...

She's definitely not as dark as Nightlight, but then if there are two versions, maybe her's is the lighter one.

Original G1 Bow Tie has this colour variation as well, between y2 and y3 with some later y2 ones having the lighter body - but none of them are as dark as Nightlight I don't think.

It would be awesome to see some direct comparisons.

Pictures obviously affect tone but if it helps here's NL for comparison:

I’m following this thread with interest too. I’m ordering both BF Bowtie and normal AJ online (just waiting on a good deal), but never realized Bow tie came in different color variations (Edit: I knew about her different variations from earlier releases, but not the BF variations ^.^). Now I’m excited to see which of them I’ll get!

I think I found "light Bow Tie" today.

Here she is with a darker one:

and here they are switched:

Not so much of a difference switched.  I kept moving them back and forth and the change was happening right before my eyes.     But one is definitely darker.

Thanks for the pics brightberry. :) I can see difference better in the first picture.

I'm still not sure if my Bowtie is the dark or light version.
