I had her as a kid. She was my first Pegasus and Twinkle Eye. I got her back as a Christmas prezzy to myself a couple years back. I love this pony, she's such an underrated beauty, her shade of blue is great and I love her hair colors and symbol. I remember taking her with me when the ice cream truck came and I remember liking the way her eyes caught the light of the street lamps when I was little. I'm thinking of getting her that knock off ice cream stand at Wal-Mart.

I have her. I really like her. I don't know why she got left out of the set when they released TEs in the UK, as we had Speedy and Sky Rocket. I can only guess Hasbro UK thought her name was "Too American" or something?

I love reading everyone's enthusiasm for this pony.  I never gave her a second thought until now.  When I was a kid, I only picked one or two from each set to collect.  She wasn't on my list and as an adult, I nearly forgot about her.

I have her. I really like her. I don't know why she got left out of the set when they released TEs in the UK, as we had Speedy and Sky Rocket. I can only guess Hasbro UK thought her name was "Too American" or something?

I wondered the same. It seems that in Europe they didn't like sets of 6+ ponies much, so if they had to left out a pony, the highest chances was if it was blue-green or even yellow (Blueberry Baskets, Cranberry Muffins, Seaflower, Fancy Flower, Frilly Flower, Mint Dreams, Lemon Treats, Diamond Dreams... etc). I'm not sure if the decision was pose with color, or name. Maybe they thought, or statistically, pink ponies and other colors sold better than the bluish ones.

With the Big Brothers not included in the Adventure Boy set, I think its because the sports were too American for the kids, even though one of them is pink

I don't know about other places, but the UK had all nine of the big brother ponies. They just named the first release Adventure Boys and then the second set they were Big Brothers, which is confusing since there were 3 ponies the same in each set xD. But Hasbro UK did change four of the names. I'm not sure how successful they were in their selection, but at the very least Tracks makes more sense than Steamer, which in the UK sense would definitely be a boat, not a train.

The thing Hasbro UK did though was push the Adventure Boy (1st set BBs) back a year to 1988. So we had the Mountain Boys in 1987, who I think were Hasbro UK's idea of a replacement boy pony set featuring 'weather stuffs! and freckles! Much more British!", but they must've done really well so they decided, ah, what the heck, let's just sell the others here too...? So we had MBs in 1987, and Big Brothers pushed back to 1988 and 1989.

To be more confusing, even though you're right about the cut out ponies, Woolworths used to import the US packaged sets and so we had Lemon Treats and Mint Dreams and possibly others as well (facepalm) in US boxes as well as the European boxes.

But Sweet Pop, I dunno. If it was just about the US name, then Tic Tac Toe wouldn't have made the cut (should be Noughts & Crosses here) and nor would Quarterback (unless rugby has quarterbacks, because that ball is definitely a rugby ball by British standards, whatever the heck we're meant to see the helmet as).

Maybe you're right about the colour thing. We also didn't get Mimic or Bright Eyes either from the 1987 set, and they fit the colour pallette. But we DID get Tic Tac Toe so maybe less harsh on the yellow than the blue/greenish tones?

In any case, I would have really loved her as a kid. She has really bold and pretty colours and they work really well on her.  And if Hasbro really didn't like the name Sweet Pop, they could've made it something else, like they did with Sweetie/Sweet Stuff...

I guess they liked Speedy and Sky Rocket more. We did get the US Speedy, not the paler European one, so it must just have been they didn't like Sweet Pop enough :/
