Toy Story 5 idea
« on: July 05, 2019, 04:07:53 AM »
So I watched Toy Story 4, I have a tendency to make my own sequels and if Pixar/Disney ever wanted to have a plot for Toy Story 5, then here one is.

Copying and pasting from my discord chat to my boyfriend, because he's generally supportive of my ideas and never gives any negative or constructive feedback beyond a sentence or 2. So I'm posting this to see how others think of it and get impartial feedback.

Themes in the idea

Spoiler
So major theme is guilt
From the people who throw away toys as a kid and regret it
Desperately looking for it out in the world, having to replace it
Being guilty because of genuine emotional connection and importance
Or because of monetary value
Or just to be missing an important piece of your life
Both for the toys and humans

I know a lot of people on MLP forums regret not keeping their ponies
And are seeking out replacements
And I'm guilty of that myself
and the fact that keeping your childhood toys into adulthood is okay
And idk what other themes as well
Maybe accepting each other and ones unique ness?
while also having duplicates that are physically like you
maybe even history?

Plot

Spoiler
Bo peep stumbles upon someone who she mistakes for Jessie from a distance
Closer to them she realizes that it's another cowgirl rag doll
it's revealed its not Jessie
and infact someone that could be from Woody's show
and the doll introduces herself as Samantha
but quickly runs off
idk about this part
but
she ends up getting spotted by the other toys
and they end up meeting
and they're like ????
And Jane's like !!!!!!!!
but after Woody sees her, Jane knows that he's not who she's looking for
and quickly dismisses him

hmm

this story isnt as good as i previously before
but most of my story was before i watched the movie
basically

the father of Jane's owner was a major contributor to woody's round up
and was there from beginning to end
so he helped make the dolls, designed characters
and based on a combination of his daughters, created Jane
at the beginning before the show
and created what he thought was a pretty good main character
and Jane was meant to be the bad guy
but others didn't agree too much so they changed characters to Jessie and woody
but they kept her around as a maybe villain
so when they were producing dolls to be sold in correlation to the show
they got prototype samples
like of head, hand, etc mold
and they got their designer to paint the prototypes, including Jane
and sew the mock ups
and because the designs were done
the prototypes were given to the father
and the youngest daughter took a liking to Jane
so she took her to play
and once the show became popular she got a woody doll
but with Jane she didn't have to hide and play dead

she bonded with her and they talked well into her teenage years, although secretly in her room
where all of her older sisters knew she was always talking to someone
only the second eldest and most rebellious sister ever caught a glimpse
and knew that toys were alive
most just didn't
But then the eventual fall of the show happened
and the father was frustrated and maddened
and while Jane knew to hide, her woody doll was given away (unknowingly to a neighbor) and while the little sister didn't see who it is
the second eldest saw who it was
(important plot point)
and Jane was hidden away in the attic
then while the father calmed down, his life was less meaningful
the show puppets, backdrops, promotional material , drawings, etc were put into the attic with Jane
then the lil sis grew up, moved out
never forgotten, she would come back and say hi
the other sister who knew they were alive
brought her daughters toys to the attic so they could be friends
but things were eventually lost to time
there used to be one of each character MIB
but they eventually got sold, with Jane and her friends keeping only one hidden
before they noticed the house no longer made noise
aka, the parents died
and they discovered it
eventually, a grandson came around and started clearing out the place
where all the remaining woody's round up stuff brought to an antique store
well some of it
and because of her uniqueness she was separated from her friends
and not wanting to loose a friend again
she heads back to her house
and on the way back there, she bumps into the others
hoping that this woody was her woody, but it's not
so because of her guilt of just sitting idly by and that stuff, she dismisses them and rushes off
then this Woody's like where you going?
and she's like "to get my friends"
and they offer
which makes Jane conflicted
she eventually accepts and on the way there, many questions surrounding her
she's vague, dodges the question
etc
and despite woody's attempts to befriend her, she's the most distant to him compared to the others
it's all revealed in time

but on the way there, tensions flare, Jane reminds that they can leave
but they persevere until they get to the house
where they get in
and once up in the attic
she's reunited with her friends
where they know that cowboy fits all their info
and her friends call her Jane and the others are getting fed up with how she's acting
where she simply walks over to something covered in a cloth
and she pulls it off to reveal a large promo cut out
and slowly, everything makes sense while Jane has softened up
she then reveals she was based off of Jessie's mold, as a character that never happened, with every intention to be like the others
and then as woody thinks he knows everything, he then tries to comfort her
which doesn't work even though presumably all the info is out
where woody rattles off some scenarios, before narrowing it down to her being in love
but she clears that it's not him, a different woody doll
btw, the other prototypes weren't played with, thus they didn't come to life
now that her unforgiving exterior has broken, it now makes things even more complicated
and idk what goes on between here and the next bit
but eventually, they're back at the antiques store with humans busing about
and either
during the night, Jane tracks someone related down and the next night, the second eldest sister breaks in
and through some calling, Jane comes out, finally getting in contact with someone who she knew
and while the other toys watch on, Jane approaches the old lady and embraces her, the sister holds her back
and Jane asks whats going on? where;s the youngest sister
and she's like, brace yourself
she died many years ago
which absolutely breaks her heart, the girl who she saw grow up, she talked with and bonded with
died before her time
and she lets that sink in
Jane, just standing there
but sister smiles, despite Jane looking at her and tearing up
still processing
sister pulls out a bag and opens it up onto her lap
slowly peering up,  is her woody
and she goes from on the verge of tears, to shocked silent as her woody steps out
and he's dumbfounded as well
well somewhat
when he was left up in the attic, hearing glass smashing to someone coming up in an attic
where the old lady breaks into the attic and calls for woody for a good five minutes, calling out to the other toys as well which got her no response
she then mentions Jane's name which quickly got him up
and brings him along to finally reunite with Jane again
where they just cry into a puddle of tears
unknown series of events happen
where at night, Jane's Woody has his hat slip through the door and he's no complete
also side details
they both has the lil sisters name on their foot

while Jane has prototype lightly marked onto a boot and a special tag with the designers name on the tag with prototype as well
she also has a voice box with only a few sayings loaded onto it
after they get to the attic, they rescue some old barbies, littlest petshop, etc, primarily girls toys
then they're brought back with Jane and the others
and the other alternative ending is
or not alternative
because they have an equal chance of happening
eldest alive sister is made aware of the fact that the attic is being cleared out
and most things are going to the same antique shop
Knowing that Jane is alive and with the others (albeit she never saw them) she'd leave with them

although all the "important stuff" was put into one box
there was still more related stuff to go along with it so the elderly lady still had some time to see what youngest daughter wanted
and she opens a letter that Jane had left her

turns out, the letter was youngest sister confessing everything
That Jane was alive, all toys were alive and some other stuff
and at the beginning, shr had them have a good guy, bad girl romantic interest relationship
while playing with them, but when they came alive their relationship progressed
although theres still the conflicting interest among them
which the youngest sister played with

there'd be moments where the sheriff got close to her but they couldn't be
because the law says so
but as she got older, the playing stopped so they decided to get together but they were still talking to her everyday
then as the show declined, the father went in a downward spiral
sister knew this
so she tried to hide them as best as she could

But there was either a loose floor board or hole in the wall where Jane was able to hide
But unfortunately the father got there in time, grabbed woody then whatever he could get his hands on he sold at a garage sale
And then when Jane was told the aftermath, she was heart broken

Off track

And she knew that old sis saw Jane a few times, so one of her last wishes was to reunite them, knowing the passage of time would be against her
Old sis, somewhat flabbergasted, because she knew who he was sold to, so she goes there, meets the couple then goes into the attic, closes it then calls out for him and the others for any info
No other toys respond and woody didn't recognize her voice, but once she mentioned Jane Woody came out
They then set out to reunite them
And thus they reunite at the antique store
And the other toys eventually came out, saying she's glad they're still here
Because she regrets throwing out her childhood toys, not knowing they were alive and genuinely misses them
That's why she kept all of her daughter's toys, so in case she wants them again, they'd be right there.
Oldest sis shows the letter to the couple and more tears ensue

Now things are good, the daughters toys are returned back to her home to live with them again
The canon cast return to the fair
And Jane and Woody head off on their own

Side notes

Spoiler
Eldest sister - Unnamed
Second eldest sister - Samantha
Second youngest sister - Unnamed
Youngest Sister - Celeste

Rough explanation of Jane's traits so far
"Jane is a reserved (More words here) but hard headed cowgirl, who isn't afraid to challenge the status quo, (Something something) when her peaceful attic is disrupted and she ends up in a vintage shop, she goes on a mission to reunite with her friends but bumps into another toy that opens up some old wounds. How long can she last before she does something she regrets?"

From the Pixar Wiki

Quote
Each primary villain of each Toy Story movie unintentionally helps Woody solve his problem in that movie.
Sid Phillips unintentionally helps Woody become friends with Buzz Lightyear.
Stinky Pete unintentionally helps Woody deal with Andy growing up.
Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear unintentionally helps Woody deal with moving on.
Gabby Gabby unintentioanlly helps Wody realize that his new purpose is to help lost or unloved toys find owners.

https://pixar.fandom.com/wiki/Woody#Trivia

With this, idk if it'd be in line with the previous movies but since this focuses on human regret, it may be time to return to Bonnie, the others or Andy or something along those lines. It may even be involving the taboo of toys not moving in front of humans and that it might be the time to be broken.

Added plot point

Spoiler
Since it began in the 1949, by the time it was nearing it's end the kids had grown into teenagers and while primarily aimed at boys, a lot of girls enjoyed it too. So using the time's traditions, girls like romance, make up, etc they devise a plan to maybe keep the series going on, while aiming at a untapped niche. Comics for girls, which focused on romance and continuing to use the protagonist, Woody. But they ran into a conundrum, they made Jessie have a sisterly relationship so who would be a good match for him?

The unused Jane, of course. So they got a few drafts, got a generic plot line then purposely chose very accomplished women since, they'd know what they'd want better than a bunch of dudes. The men only changed a few things but the plot line stayed mostly the same. They even got the youngest sister (who would be a teen at the time) to help create it, where she would come back home and talk about it with Jane, where she would give her own input.

Copy and pasted from my chat on Discord to my boyfriend

Spoiler

It'd be a logical conclusion that the company would merchandise anything
So that'd include comics
And I think they could write a romantic comic for girls and teenagers
Im forgetting a lot of stuff Quickly
But basically I'm think a catalyst is Woody indirectly saving Jane from execution
So in the story they'd be attracted to each other but couldn't because of their different ideologies and their current status
So they have many run ins where they can't get near each other
But when the gang is all tied up, facing their execution Jane comes busting in, foiling her distant co workers plan
Because as soon as she got word of the situation she defied her orders to save him and his friends
And by rescuing them, she betrayed those who raised her when no one else would, and the only ones who understood her, her troubles and cared for her
So she comes riding in on her horse, kicks her friends down to rescue Bullseye

Her horse attacks them while she frees him and she gets Bullseye to follow her, towards woody where it's getting even closer to death
There hasn't been enough time for word to travel from the incident to the holding site
So she knows that it's too late to smooth her way in, and her reputation is of a betrayer
Sooner or later so she gets both horses to get through the entrance, while she subdues her friends so once they're at the place where they're being held, the leader is dumbfounded and angered
While woody is shocked for a different reason and Jessie is like why the flip is a bad guy rescuing us? And prospector is like momentarily shocked, because he's like she's a bad guy but had a feeling that there was a connection between them
She over powers her friends, rescues them
Jessie sharing a saddle with Jane while the prospector and woody share a saddle on Bullseye
They run away as the building begins to collapse but Jane wants to go back
To help others from the building
So she turns around before dropping Jessie off and keeps her horse a fair distance away while helping the others recover team mates before the building collapses
Once almost everyone is safe she hops back on her horse and runs away, eventually catching up with her rescues where they exchange a few words before heading off
Woody is conflicted, but he knows he loves her and she risked her life and cut off ties with her family and her support network

A short time later Pete confronts Woody to implant doubt about Jane

And while it doesn't seem to change him, it adds even more confusion to his feelings
A short while later she is captured by law enforcement because there's no one to back her up
And her former family essentially gave her locations away
And is set to hang
In a day or two
The closest town is the one where Woody is the sheriff
So she spends the night in his jail and they can't help themselves but to talk

When woody asks why she saved him, she responds "I wouldn't be able to live with myself, knowing I let a guy like you die"
And he's like even more super conflicted

And just as a side note, Jane has a few sayings like "a little bribery doesn't hurt anyone" or "forgery isn't going to kill you"
So they spent the night together in jail, just talking
And once in the morning, shes taken to another town for execution

Which is the next morning
So woody departs at dawn to a nearby town to track down a sub group of her ex gang which he pays a down payment to save Jane from the execution
Which is conflicting with his core beliefs, because he's bribing his worst enemies and her ex family to rescue her
Even though they don't care about her anymore or want her dead
He just can't rescue her himself because he's a sheriff and that position means a lot to him
And he just has to wait
Oh btw, during their late night jail talk prospector comes in and gives the whole "you're too good for her" and "she's basically dead anyway" spiel
Where Jane takes the less than stellar words to heart in regards to herself

But interjects when he starts to be mean to woody
Somehow it comes to "I could easily trick him to get out of here, but I don't have a reason to and your justification of me 'being a bad guy' isn't a valid reason"
prospector eventually leaves
now to present

then, as she's walking up and has the rope tied around her neck, her old gang comes to, disrupts their hanging to have someone cut the rope and save her, carrying her on horseback to a rendezvous point
where he meets them and Jane is floored
she prepared herself to die
she wanted to do right for those who she's wronged
and there is a cross over of morals
where they both understand each others views
but the gang could use this situation and their payment as black mail for him
which he was well aware of
she lost everything to save him
and he could loose everything after he saved her
and after them both being flabbergasted
Woody is feeling guilty about betraying his people because he'd swore to be the person to stop those in power doing things like this
Jane knows that but if any other law enforcement see her they'll capture her and try to again
and he could lose his job if hes seen with her

they come up with the idea that they could try to get a pardon, expungement, commutation or remission
or try to disguise her as a way deceased sister
and that's pretty much it so far

another idea

Spoiler

basically during a lawful shoot out between Jane and another bad guy
well they do the walk ten spaces then turn around and shoot
but since Jane respects her opponent she doesn't do cheating in matters such as this
but the opposing team does
the gun is rigged
and once they get a few steps away from each other the opposing team aims at Jane to make her fire early
but misfire themselves and make their team mate react by falling over
Jane sees this and calls the match off
she then goes to offer a hand to the downed enemy
the person accepts
but as they get up
she gets socked in the jaw
Her opponent is male
Everyone's freaking out
And instead of retreating like she wants to
She socks him right back, even harder which knocks him to the ground
Oh he threw the first punch when they were nearly standing up, where Jane was still holding onto him and she was kinda crouching

and then her team is furious and their team is like wtf we do
Jane stands her ground, doesn't offer to help him back up, instead towering over him as he gets himself back up
standing face to face to him, he punches her back and an all out fight commences
no guns but chairs, things used to attack and their fists/feet
but they both flee after law enforcement is in range
then word gets around because a woman didn't flee but fought back against a dude
and idk if this will be definite
but the leader is like good job Jane
making us look good so lets drink

and a lot of Jane's crew is beaten up
including her
and while others can skip out
Jane can't
so the others are drinking and being idiots while Jane is recovering from her injuries at the very end of the bar, next to a wall
and when it went well into the night, a mysterious figure appeared and sat a seat or two away from her
Jane doesn't even seem to notice the dude because she's recovering
and it turns out it's Woody just coming around to ask her about stuff

And one more point

Spoiler

so at the end of the outlaw saga
woody alludes to her dead sister
where they eventually find out she has a twin which died at a very young age
basically her mother died giving birth to them
they were only expecting one so they planned some name (Idk as of yet)
but as the mother was loosing the battle
they realized there was another one
which they named Jane because "Jane Doe"
then one reason or another the first sibling died of a disease after a short while after they were taken in by her now gang
