Vintage G1 plushies
« on: July 05, 2019, 03:38:53 AM »
I don’t know much about these at all, but were super surprised to see a Honeycomb plush for sale on my local BST. I didn’t know there were that many different? Later I also saw Posey. I only seen Firefly, CC and Bowtie before. So this got me thinking- how many plushes are there? And what are their price range?

If you have one (or more!) please share some pics! I’d love to see

I know there's Moondancer, Lofty and Baby Surprise.

I have Starshine and Blossom! I got both when I was little; Blossom was found at a garage sale and Starshine, at a Goodwill store in a stuffed animal bin.

There's also the pyjama cases (Bow Tie, Cotton Candy, Trickles) from over here as well as the plushes.  They are quite a bit bigger and floppier than the plushes though.

Honeycomb is an International exclusive. I first found one in the late 1990s and nobody had heard of her. For a while a bunch of people online thought she was a fake because she had blue eyeshadow like she had Bow Tie's eyes - but then someone else found one with tags and in any case, the symbol etc is too well done to be a fake.

Wiki has put her into 1986 but we don't actually know what set she was a part of or how she was sold I don't think. 1986 does make the most sense as that was when Honeycomb was on sale, but yeah. She's a bit of a random mystery. I almost wonder if we had her instead of having Surprise.

I thought she was a UK exclusive - she's only ever shown up here before - but it may be she had a wider distribution. We had plush versions here of ponies we didn't get in the regular line (Glory, Firefly, Moondancer to name three) so it's not impossible it happened in other places. I think most of those on the wiki site were also available here even if the actual ponies weren't, though maybe not all the applauses. However...

We had adult Lickety Split here but I don't think we had Lofty or Surprise and certainly not their babies. The babies are super cute though. I would probably quite happily get rid of all the G1 plush now (except my sister won't let me) except the mum and baby sets, Honeycomb and the pj cases...

More pics of the UK exclusive plush stuff here.

I am not totally sure how many other G1 plush we have, they're all in the attic, we picked up a ton at carboot sales in the nineties and I think got one or two online. But I'm not a huge fan of them really...Honeycomb and the babies aside, I think the PJ cases are much nicer...

I'm missing Posey & Cherries Jubilee and not sure who else... I just kind of grab when I find them, but haven't actually compared vs a checklist.
Wishes I had some of the Applause plushes...

Thanks for the replies! They are cute! Especially the babies

And thank you for the info on Honeycomb, Taffeta! I thought Maybe she would be an exclusive. She is up for sale on a local Norwegian BST site, but I think she is sold by someone who knows who she is. I don’t know what the prices are for plush- but she up around 30-35 USD. So if she is sold by a collector it might be that they bought her from UK, not necessarily that she was sold in Norway once upon a time. I am tempted to ask the seller....

I wish I had a photo of mine.  I forget who all I have.  I know I have Lofty, Moondancer, Starshine, Bow Tie, and I think Posey and Parasol?

The plushies took a while to grow on me. I thought they looked ultra weird, even when I got my first two in hand through a lot. My first instinct was to move them on pretty pronto, but then, I dunno... I became quite taken with what at the time I considered grandiose ugliness

They've now grown into a bit of a collection obsession - I now simply love them!

I have almost all (but no applause plush yet). I don't know if I'll ever be able to obtain Honeycomb or Surprise. They seem to be (not factoring in those utterly adorable PJ plushies) the hardest and most expensive to obtain. The babies are pretty pricey, too. I have Baby Lofty, but am yet to get Lickety Split or, suprise surprise, Baby Surprise.

I have 3 of these to sell!
I've yet to identify them (I'm identifying all the regular ponies first)
Does anyone know how much these usually go for?  (and if they're washing machine safe?  :P )

Plush listing
Price depends on condition.

Washing--spot treat; put inside a pillowcase and use a cold setting. I usually let them air dry. A hot dryer will ruin their hair.
Commons range from $5; I have an extra Parasol that I can't seem to give away... Hard to price them out when they're kinda allover the place.

I think I have one of the Uk-exclusive pajama cases... Since I noticed one has a zipper. This really helps, thanks so much!

I love the G1 Softies. :lovey: I don't own any though. Were there hard to find back when they were in stores? I never had one growing up even though I had other stuff animals.
