How to store ponies?
« on: July 04, 2019, 03:15:45 PM »
So, I'm sure that people ask this a lot, but I haven't been on this site in a long time, and I need some more space on my bookshelf for, well, books. I have G1s in varying conditions, some G3s that aren't too special to me (or rare), and my childhood G4s. How should I store my ponies when I don't want them displayed? I would hate to ruin some of the factory curl on my G1s, and I don't want any staining. I'll be going to college soon, and I want them to remain as pristine as they are now, because my collection is very special to me.

Nemesis told me about a good acid free tissue paper that you can wrap and store ponies.... I will try to find the name again... but as always, a cool and dry place is ideal to prevent mold, etc.

Is it better to use tissue paper that has no dye in it or anything?

Yes, I would definitely recommend no dyes.. would definitely stick to white.

Silica packets in whatever storage container you have!  keep them away from humidity and heat.

do not let silica packets touch the ponies if they have printed text on them.  learned this the hard way.  the “do not eat” type warning ink got on my ponies.  :(

but silica packets are good to keep moisture out

For the silica packets - I've bought them in bulk on wish, and put some into small organza bags I also got on wish. I have those in the shelf (behind the ponies and not touching them), but maybe getting thin fabric bags without any printing or dye on them might help with storage as discussed here!
Specifically looking for G1 with pen markings similar to this (my initials - W.S.):
