I do believe the Dragons got what appears to be random distribution around Europe.

I didn't know about the Bushwoolies! I only knew they came with the variants sold in the U.K.

I'm certain that both variants of the "German" princess ponies were sold without attendants.

I'm not wondering about Australia >_<

@Leikin: Thank you, thank you for adding info! So you actually had Spanish baby Lemon Drop? Interesting! You didn’t have the Baby Buggy with Cuddles at all in Sweden?

There is a picture of here MIB here :)

Some NC ponies, such as the family ponies and Sundance were standard releases in the U.K.

PS I think the Mountain boys would need their own thread, I'm sure I've heard they got distributed in Sweden.

I know ponies can travel a lot, but my Tornado came from Sweden, so I am disposed to believe the theory that they were sold there.

I am fairly certain that's established, though if I'm wrong I'm sure Leikin will put me straight.

:bigups: Thanks!

It was something that was mentioned casually to me by savetheponies, who sees them (especially Sunburst) come up for sale A LOT in the Swedish groups. It is nice to have it confirmed :)

Princess pictures incoming!

German Leaflet/booklet (image not mine) showing regular hair princesses. The writing states they come with comb, hat and wand, no mention of an attendant.

If you look at this leaflet (I think this image is mine? I cannot remember) it is almost identical to the UK leaflet (the art work is the same and the ponies are in the same poses), expect no attendants (unlike the UK leaflet) are shown and the language is German.

Finally, magazine/comic advert (image not mine)

I have not seen a German Princess MOC and I have never seen an alternate haired variant German MOC or in any of the leaflets/comics/etc either.

I hope this is helpful :)

PKW, that's amazing. (If you have a way to check if the insert image is yours, I'd love to be able to use it, but if not, then it's fine too. Just seeing it is helpful as it pretty much indicates what you said.)

The insert for the UK in that blue style is the second version to feature the Princesses and is from 1988 (although dated 1987) so that fits with them having the bordered cards in France and it's probably the same kind of release. We had them in 1987 and 1988 here but with dragons both years, and the packaging didn't change, but I've felt for a while that France and Germany had them in the later year on card, as well as the TEs.

Actually, I have a 1987(?) German booklet, I should check there. I didn't think of it, but I don't remember them being in it.

Edit to add: They are in it. I'll upload the image to add to the collection :):

So what that means for their packaging I don't know, but still no attendants.

I've also never seen a variant one MOC or a german language one, only French ones. I wonder if any German folk have in their huntings?

This is the ad I have for Germany. There is more text at the bottom. I can understand this much, and from what I can see there's no mention of dragons in the other text, but the other princess names are all listed.

Can confirm that boxed princesses with dragons were sold in Iceland, but never Bushwoolies. Can also confirm that Mountain Boys were sold in Iceland. Not only do I remember them in shops, I have found too many in the wild over the years for it to be a coincidence. :) Same goes for many other UK and Euro "exclusives".

I’ll dig my leaflets and stuff out, it’s the only way I can be sure.

I’m glad it’s helpful :)

Specifically the Netherlands and possibly Belgium as well...

I know Germany and France had carded Princesses. I know Italy had dragons like the UK did. But this interests me in particular...

Does this mean the Netherlands also had dragons with their first set Princesses?

That is...they look...

I’ve been through all my stuff and I’m disappointed that I don’t own the leaflet or adverts in the pictures I’ve posted :( I’ve plenty of other German comic advert clippings, but none of the princesses -_-

This website states they didn’t get attendants, I was hoping it would have images on, but it doesn’t sadly.

The first princesses were sold with dragons in Denmark. I clearly remember seeing them in the toystore thinking they looked so special. They were sold in boxes. I think it was the same packaging as the UK.

What this thread is showing really really clearly is how different releases were within Europe.

I know it's been said before, but the blanket "UK-and-Europe" classification needs to be ripped up and ditched.

It's so much more specific than that. For there to be such variations even within the Norse countries, and then between mainland European countries like Holland, France, Germany...Italy...

And of course we're in there too somewhere.

Thanks for that info on Denmark. You guys did seem to get more Italian ponies than some of your neighbours, so it's interesting you had the same as Sweden and us, but not as Norway...

Mind you the Netherlands seem to have had dragons too and I would so like to know in what packaging, since Italy's is so pretty and unique.

Oh, oh, let me add. Iceland got Italian ponies, too. One of my first childhood ponies was Italy Applejack (I still have her!) and she's sooo common here, along with Italy Peachy, Bowtie, Rainbow ponies...

I 100% agree on that UK-Euro exclusive term. It's waaay overdue being ditched.

Unfortunately so long as everyone insists there are US ponies, then there must also be UK-Europe ponies.
