Unsure where to put this- Sad pony mail!
« on: June 14, 2019, 05:58:32 PM »
Have you guys ever tried to look for pony stuff on the Poshmark or Depop apps? I have! Sure, there's mostly clothes (that I don't even know will fit me, sob) but some users also may post merchandise or actual ponies. This is how we got here.

I purchased a few overseas items from different Depop users (I'm in the US), and one was a G3 lunch tin from Australia- here are the seller's pics under a spoiler.

Cute, right? I couldn't NOT buy it! So the thing arrived yesterday and...

TW for pony merchandise gore.

I don't think I've ever been so sad in my entire life. Okay that's clearly hyperbole but how unfortunate! I have since received a refund and an apology from the seller, and I don't wish ill will onto them and consider this issue resolved on that front. But I still wanted to mope here a little bit just so I could ask if there might be a way that this can be fixed? I know I can't just fix it by hand, I mean it's solid metal, but still I just want to know if there's a chance.

How awful  Do you happen to have a small rubber mallet? That's what I would use to try to flatten the crumpled metal back into shape.

If all else fails, and the lid part with Tinka isn't damaged, you could probably take the mangled bottom off and still have a cute wall deco.

Well, it only took force and the post office to make the dent--- try mailing it to me and see if it straightens up! Then I'll drop it off at your house...
Thanks so much to Calico_Star for her beautiful work on my Avatar!

That IS super sad, but I feel it can be fixed. Try an auto detailing / panel beating place. I'm thinking one of those customising places that take pride in their work and like a challenge. They have the skill set required  :)

If you decide to try it yourself: I don't think you should hit the tin directly. Rather place something flat (like a piece of wood, cut to shape, and cushioned by felt - with the felt on the tin side) between the tin and the mallet first. Otherwise it will be very difficult to avoid making dents. I would also cushion underneath the tin. And, yes, be gentle and careful and exercise plenty of patience and perseverance.

Good luck!
