Is it possible to save a moldy so soft?
« on: May 21, 2019, 05:21:47 PM »
Hello!

I found a so soft sundance, and I'd like to try to save her flocking, but unfortunately she's pretty mouldy. I will probably have to take her flocking off since she's pretty dingy anyway, but it would be great if I could save it! Has anyone else had experience with this?

I've seen it on SS Sundance before in the past. It should come off with some bleach if you spray it on her. :-)

Ohhhh yeah I would try some vinegar to work out most of the black stuff and then sunfading for the rest.  even if she goes yellowish, that is better than moldy!

i saved a couple of so softs, not with black mold though, it was dark yellow mildew, i used Sard Wonder soap and they came up looking like new again and very plushy and i nearly got rid of them.  i wish i had got on to that sooner i could have saved my buttons that i sold for $1  :(  i only ever used it on blood stains in the past (as we have a nose bleeder in the family) so never thought it would work on so softs, It is a Aussy and NZ product so not sure if available overseas

You can probably save her flocking :) Just remember to use cold water and gentle scrubbing.

Thanks for all the replies! I haven't had the time to get bleach vinegar that isn't rice wine or apple cider variety. I'm in the US so I probably won't find Sard Wonder Soap (though it does seem like a wonder -- bloodstains you say?)
I'll try to report what I find :)

That pose is the best one for poking people with. Especially annoying boys who throw ponies on the roof.
(Said with experience).

If Buttons went into battle, I am sure it was for a noble cause.

On topic, I found antibac soap did a lot of good for some grimy SS ponies although it couldn't go the full mile on all of them. Maybe a place to begin before going onto harder core material though. Sundance being white, too, any final residue may (may?) be sunfadeable?

Vanish carpet foam or similar also works well with cold water.
