wow big daddy
« on: May 16, 2019, 03:20:26 PM »
hi folks, is it normal for all big daddy's to be so much bigger then your average brother or is it just bright boutique? (I only have him) I notice this when I organised all my adult G1's in pose order rather then wave/year order like i always do, really a force of habit or my OCD
btw i have no mountain boys to compare, I found this a fun find.

O.o.

Now I want to go line up all my boys and measure them and they're four hours away :'(

I never noticed any significant size difference before but my regular Daddy BB doesn't live in the same part of the cupboard as I got him quite recently, so I guess I've never compared...

It might be hoof related though? He does look a bit like he's on his tiptoes next to Tracks.

Whoa, that's quite the difference! I have some ponies with size differences in the same pose, for both G1 and G3, but they're nowhere near as drastic as this!

What a fun discovery! So, of course I had to go check, and my Daddy Celebration is gigantic compared to Tracks, but Daddy Apple is significantly smaller than Barnacle. I never noticed their heights were all so different before. I'm really curious how the Mountain Boys stack up.

Sadly not home till end May/start June, so I guess it will have to wait...

There's also the NC daddies to factor into this as well...

Is your Daddy BB made in China or HK?

Out of my boy ponies :

Daddies Bright Bouquet (China) and Sweet Celebrations (Hong Kong) are bigger than Fireball who is in a similar body pose.
Daddy Apple Delight is not quite as tall as the other two Daddies, more akin to the height of Wigwam.
The mountain boys appear to be more in size with the big brothers, except for my Slugger who is smaller than all the others.

They do like to do their own thing these lads..............

Another thought has just struck me, so I've been having a bit of a prod at my boys -

All 3 Daddies are still squishy and the plastic is fairly soft. The brothers and mountain boys are going hard, (through age and plasticiser leakage perhaps?) and Slugger is the hardest of them all, he's a little rock.
Are they made from slightly different formulations of vinyl and do ponies shrink as they harden?

cool info.
going hard? do you think they are more hard now then when new? have they gone harder since owning them?
TE came out at the same time and have that horrible issue.
if it was shrinkage it would be uneven but interesting, i think the mold was changed, just like the merry go round ponies seem to be bigger also.
I think i need to load more photos ive just notice more ponies waves that are bigger then their predecessor

Wow! I had Daddy Sweet Celebrations when I was a child, and I do remember thinking how huge he was... Then again, that was compared to all the female ponies as I didn't have any other big boys, so that's no proof of anything.

Also, I automatically read the topic title in Blanche Devereaux's voice and accent (she called her father Big Daddy). :P

I too have had to go and check my "Daddy" ponies against the other boys and yes there is a noticeable size difference!  I've never noticed that in over 30 years lol   :dropjaw:
