This is the best thing I have ever seen in my life. I am a changed person after seeing this trailer. Humanity has changed after seeing this trailer.

Oh my goodness, this thread has made my day.

The trailer has caused me to have some mixed feelings... being a dreamer, I think it'd be nice to have a decent Sonic film set within his own universe, embracing the cartoony feel throughout and actually feeling like a good old-fashioned Sonic dealio in terms of the plot, but the cynical part of me thinks this cgi-and-live-action mash could prove to to be incredibly amusing purely for how blatantly mishandled it will inevitably turn out to be...
Also, it feels like a pointless thing to be freaked out by but I can't stand that nose. It just looks really unpleasant to me for some reason.

     My friends and I have been talking about this aaalll day. And the general consensus is: it’s awful and needs to be destroyed. The trailer is so bad, when I showed my mom, she thought it was fan made. Nope. This is a legit thing.
     I kinda want to see it though, just to see if it’s that bad. Not in theatres (don’t wanna spend money to see this) though. I like sonic. As a cartoon. If they made this fully animated and not live action, I might have a better view on it. Make sonic less human. He isn’t supposed to have human teeth or human legs. His shoes aren’t supposed to be off brand nike runners.
    But just think. People who went to school for film, executives in marketing, they all worked on this and thought “yup! Looks good!”

exactly. Except the corner of shame needs to be on the moon or in a remote corner of earth. Away from any other executives who might greenlight something else.

Like other people have said, the plot looks really mediocre and cookie cutter.  Which makes me sad, because if the movie were as weird and bad as  CGI Sonic then I think this could be an amazing bad movie for watching with friends.

I can't get over how bad he looks.  I feel so bad for Sonic fans, but at the same time it does kind of delight me in some perverse way.  Like, it's not even just "Oh, that's a bad representation of Sonic."  No, even if it were an original character it's just COMPLETELY HIDEOUS.  I know I mentioned his teeeeeeth before, but I also hate his hands and I truly do not understand why they made them covered with white fur instead of giving him gloves?   I just??

At the very least, this movie has sparked a lot of great memes.  Maybe that was it's true purpose in this world.

So I never gave a crap about Sonic (other than thinking the theme song to the cartoon where they are somehow freedom fighters was bomb, lol), but this is some godawful CG character design. Whoever thought it was wise to give him this weirdly humanoid body and human teeth needs to reevaluate their choices.

Detective Pikachu looks so much better design-wise. They could have ditched the realistic fur and stuff too and it would look so much more appealing.
Also, the poor guy who looks like Sonic's co-star was also in Hop. Looks like he can't catch a break.

They could also have gone the "Space Jam" route and just had him be a 2-D cartoon.  They could have showed Sonic coming from a world which is completely cartoon.

Rewatching the trailer, the part where Sonic is in the passenger seat looks so bad and fake.   

I also heard a rumor that Sega didn't have much creative control and are now furious.  Don't know if that's true, but . . . I would be if I were them, lol.

     Oooohhhh...I hope it’s true, because if it isn’t, and sega truly did have creative control, I think Sega might be actively trying to kill off the sonic franchise.

Yeah, didn't like what I saw. It's not a Sonic movie, it's a new Jim Carrey movie which happen to have a human character in some hedghehoglike costume in it. I truly hope they redo him, for the sake of the fans. Hubby loves Sonic and was so exctied when the first rumors about a movie came. This trailer was just awful.
