My name is Ashleigh, I have actually been to many of these pony sites A LONG time ago! When Kimberly Shriner was first bringing up her geocities site actually. (I see she has since taken down her site? And written a few books? Wow...)
My childhood collection started in the 1984 time frame. I have checked in periodically throughout my life with the collecting world. Recently I just realized that the G1 ponies were released... and I am interested in collecting again. I was an only child until I was 8, and spent most of my time playing with my ponies. I had a Dream Valley Estates that was my childhood holy grail, but my mom sold it in a garage sale. (Isn't that the story with SO many of us?)
Now I have all of my ponies packed away, but hoping that I will have a little girl some day that will enjoy all the ponies I have collected. I especially hope that someday we can share "opening" the G2 and G3s that I have collected... and now these "retro classics" that I hope to add also! If I don't have a kiddo though, maybe I can share with a niece or nephew. We will see where life takes us. :-)
Some of my favorites are Gusty, Fizzy, Wind Whistler, Firefly, Sundance, Princess Serena, Glory, and Ribbons. They are the ones that I have the strongest memories of either playing with, watching in movies, or listening to on cassette.
I will probably just read more than post- but I think it is so very very fun to see such passion for the same toys that I dearly loved still going strong. In a time where the internet can be not always a pretty place, how nice to find a happy place!
