Ponies that topple 🤦🏻‍♀️
« on: March 19, 2019, 05:17:13 AM »
Hey!

Sorry if this has been asked before - I’m sure I’ve seen the topic come up at some point - but I was wondering if anything can be done about toppling G1’s, back legs turning inwards etc? For example with quackers pose (she keeps falling on her face!) is there a way to retrain their legs, maybe with a makeshift splint?

xXx  ^.^

My favorite pose (Fizzy's) is prone to this, sadly enough. I've fixed it for that particular pose by placing a strong metal wire inside the hind legs, so that I could force them back into a balanced position. It works fine, but I do realize it may be a bit too drastic for some people :)

You can heat up their vinyl and do some reshaping by wedging something between their legs - just make sure to heat up the vinyl so it can set in the correct position!

I had some success just using a pencil to separate legs that are too close together. But this is less permanent than some other methods. I don't like doing drastic stuff, especially on aging plastic that may be going through processes. Heat is known to speed up plasticiser issues, and those that have already gone through that process probably won't be flexible enough to change anyway.

Some ponies have uneven hooves. As a kid I used to use a white pony shoe on Windy to make her stand, as one of her back legs is slightly shorter. Though again, not a permanent fix.

I have a deflocked Paradise who is falls over if you so much as look at her funny.  Somehow one of her legs is off, maybe the shape was changed by the deflocking process.

Tippy toes ponies are one of the poses prone to this. It's not a great pose to put at the front of the shelf ;)

My Brazilian P. does it as well.

I saw a photo recently in which someone had one Pony leg propped up on a little round cylinder...I’m not sure if it was cut from foam or made from Sugru maybe.
