I think the key is that the custom person may or may not take the time to be like "yeah this doesn't have any harmful chemicals". They might just be the type to be like "Nope" and trash it.

I agree.  It's going to be a roll of the dice.  I don't think emptying out the perfume bottle or even removing it really provides much protection when the package is screaming "CONTAINS REEEEEAL PERFUUUUME".  Like, how does the customs worker know the perfume isn't hidden behind the backflap of the box?  How would they know it's already removed?

Oh I agree that box is NOT helpful.
The only thing I could think of is that if contents were removed and there was a hand written note that "this package does not contain any perfume. contents were removed" very securely put right next to the bottle. and as you said, it's still a gamble in the end.

And yes, it's the perfume puff palace story which is like... just proof that people aren't going to care to double check.

Friends, I'm only seeing 16 ponies on their eBay via the app and through careful maneuvers via Google Chrome, he's listed 34.

Is this a glitch or some seller blocking certain certain listings?

I guess it is like batteries. By law I'm not allowed to post batteries overseas. And our post office ask at the desk if there are batteries, so saying no is lying and that's actively breaking the law. So MIB items with batteries I can't ship overseas because that's the law. I guess I didn't realise perfume could also come into this category.

I will take good care of ChaCha. >.>

@freezetime, I assume you load ebay as ebay.com.au normally, and so your app is probably set up to that? The ones that don't list international shipping won't show up on an international site.

The only way to view them is to view them on ebay.com. On a web browser that's easy, just change the .com.au to .com. But on the app you would probably have to meddle with settings to see them all...

It's not a glitch so much as ebay not making available items to an audience who potentially aren't able to buy them.

Except we can, because it's not hard to load US ebay :P

I never thought about the nail polish either. I have a Perfume Pretty Barbie that was mailed to me and never thought twice about her perfume being an issue

I'm sorry to hear about the MIB Perfume Puff palace that was confiscated by customs because someone thought it was a giant bottle of perfume. That reminds me of another story It's not exactly MLP related but is related to the dicussion of toys being mistaken for real items.

Spoiler
Someone bought a Barbie doll styling head as a gift and put it in their suticase unwrapped and it showed up on the x-ray machine. When security questioned the person they were asking a lot of strange questions about the styling head until she expalined it was a toy.

@Taffeta. I agree Beachy Keen doesn't make any sense as a name for the mail order baby.

@heftysmurf, I understand your perspective now. I am fine with anyone not wanting to ship abroad because you personally don't want to. It's up to you. I just resent when the hassle word comes into it because I've had so many people be really rude about me being outside the US over the years.

For the record, this applies to UK only sellers, too - I hold them in the same contempt when they make the same excuses.

As for hassle, hassle is having to have an item shipped to a friend and pay double shipping because the original seller won't ship abroad :/ It happened with a pony recently - the one that went to Bangladesh and Dubai over Christmas - and it basically cost me 2x the pony cost to get her to me and took almost 4 months. That's hassle. And the GSP? That's also hassle.

In any case, all of it is easier now because you can do so much online. When I started I had to wait for people to send me $US - in CASH, argue with them when they sent me a MO that I couldn't cash, and entirely deal in an alien currency at high risk to transact overseas. As a result going to PO, signing a form and sending a pony after receiving a paypal payment seems pretty easy ;)

...Maybe I'm just getting old...
I'm glad we cleared that up :D I think I am getting old too, but I'm sure you have comparably LOADS more experience than me selling, especially when it comes to ponies. I will admit that I get easily overwhelmed by forms and procedures, its part of my anxiety issues, so I try to avoid extra complications at all costs...In any case  like I said I do my best when it comes to other close-knit communities and friends for shipping overseas, its random ebay strangers that I'm not keen to go out of my way for...

I just don't have access to my computer atm, the on/off button is stuck so I have to go through some hoops.

And I might have to retract my bids incase there's no options to get her across (and being blocked) however I'll see who I can call/email to talk about it. Idk who or what but I can still research.

I've messaged UPS about it since they ship to Australia, and on the prohibited items Australia it doesn't seem to mention perfume. So I'm hoping if she can get pass the US border control, she might have an easier time here.

Edit: if I'm understanding correctly, UPS can ship perfume if it has no alcohol in it? Does anyone know if the Prom Queen's perfume has alcohol in it?

Edit edit: they cancelled their Goldilocks auction :/ I was in the lead.

Edit edit: they cancelled their Goldilocks auction :/ I was in the lead.

I took a look at their listings and they cancelled... a lot of them. Wonder why?

Edit: Upon clicking "completed listings" on their page to view them, I think they deleted just all of the ones with the rules on what would get people blocked. Maybe they plan on relisting them without that description. Can you not just edit eBay descriptions?

Edit 2: Alright I did some Googling, from what I can gather, you can freely add on to the descriptions of listings, but if a listing has bids on it already, you cannot remove any part of the description you've put there already. My guess is they realized how harsh their description on blocking people sounded and decided to take down the listings with those rules and will probably redo them with their newer description.

Maybe people were complaining about it? Or the original seller (the one who bought the unit) didn't like how he was sounding? Or maybe he's in a much more clear state of mind and regrets writing it like that? Or maybe there were too many faker bidders so they cancelled to start a fresh and block the fakers?

Edit: yeah, that sounds plausible.

From my experiences at a German platform like Goodwill I know that people are very fast when it comes to complaining at something. So they maybe messaged ebay telling the rules of the seller are not correct and ebay forced him to take it down an relist it. Just my 2 cents.

I'm sure they got taken down because of the threat to post people's addresses. Quite against TOS.

(And as I mentioned.. it's not really about what's there, it's more so customs not taking the time to look at it other then "that's perfume". But how would they know that contents? )

Ah, thank you. It seems like shipping dangerous goods from the US to Australia is a no go, I do however have some relatives in Norway and Scotland. I might ask my family about the relatives and get in contact with them.

Edit: I researched a bit and I'd have to label it "contains perfume" get special clearances, ect.

Late night edit: I talked with family and friends, general consensus is it could get outside of the us but it couldn't get inside on Australia's end. She'd be disposed of with no care.

So unless I visit the US and find another one of her there, it's practically impossible.

The only possible thing would be is if I ship it to someone in the US, they take it with them on a plane from US to Australia then either meet up with me or then mail it from their location to mine.

So I'm not able to take in Sweet Sundrop, but it's not the end of the world (now I just hope someone outbids me so I don't have to end up blocked)

I saw that too! I actually messaged him to let him know that he might want to include her name in his listing (and explained that she's super rare and sought after). Either way, she's going to sell for a ridiculous amount I'm sure.
