Horn or no horn, I'm inclined to say it's a Galarian Ponyta, too. The horn is the only Rapidash trait it has, calling it a Rapidash just because of that seems odd since this is hardly the only alt. form Pokemon to have something that its counterpart doesn't.

Until we get some sort of official info release, let's just agree that it's some sort of relation to the Ponyta line and move on, eh? Life's too short to argue over blurry screenshots of a cartoon horse

(also I would be ALL OVER a pegasus!Rapidash omg. I can't believe we don't already have a pegasus!)

LOL I've been wanting something with Rapidash for a while.

I'm still on the fence on which game to get... granted I still need to get a switch but we have so little info on exclusives that it's going to make it harder to choose... I'm incline to still get Sword because the current know exclusives (well some of the supposed ones but Serebii is normally not wrong) for the pokemon and the known gyms....

Though I'm not a fan of Sirfetch'd as far as it's looks.

This is a Ponyta. I think it's important to make this distinction because the end of the stream apparently hints at a Rapidash. There is a Rapidash cry and the two Ponytas look up at the sky. Implying that Rapidash might be a pegasus.

Ponyta is a horse. Rapidash is a unicorn. This thing has a horn.

It could also be a new species.

This is a Galarian form. Things change with Galarian forms. The design of the Pokemon resembles Ponyta way more than Rapidash. Remember, Rapidash is a lot larger, more intimidating Pokemon, with meaner looking eyes and everything.

There's no way it is a new species. It has the same design and eyes as a Ponyta, save for the mane/tail.

Then by your standards, the guinea pig thing is just a galarian Pikachu, considering they have roughly the same body and face and not because Pokemon has its own distinct style that causes design similarities or anything. Also by your standards it could be a Galarian Rapidash since regional forms are a bit different in looks and typing.

Rapidash doesnt have meaner eyes.

And why couldn't it possibly be a new species? We have plenty of Pokemon that are dogs, cats, pigs, monkeys, foxes, seals and rabbits. If it is a new species, it would be the 3rd unicorn. Remember Keldeo?

Could even be a split evo.

Well it does help that this "new" pokemon has the exact cry as ponyta, as all other previous pokemon with new forms do.

Well now that's just wrong... Apparently Galarian Ponyta is a Shield Exclusive.... I was hoping it was going to be in both games....

I have always gotten the "first" version of each pair (Red, Gold, Ruby, Diamond, etc.), and thought for sure I would continue with Sword/Shield, but I must have Galarian Ponyta!

And ughhhh that's utterly lame! about it being a version-exclusive, I mean. I feel like the old-Pkmn-with-new-forms shouldn't be version exclusives... maybe that's just me, lol. I guess trading's always an option.

Anyway, it's great to get some proper pics of Ponyta. It's so cute! I bet there'll be lots of merch of it, esp. since rainbow unicorn toys are all over the place lately.

I think a lot of people were expecting Fairy based on leaks then on the look. But Rapidash still may become Psychic/Fairy.... Remember what happened with Vulpix? Complete Ice type on the first stage and then Ice/Fairy was Ninetales. I think they are doing this same thing with Ponyta... Both starting stages and 2nd stages were pure fire types in their Kanto forms.

I won't have either of those because of the lack of a switch (which hopefully I will change that soon)

Well if 'Tendo isn't going to reveal any of the Starter evos then someone have better done it for us, I'm super unenthused with the starters as is and it's going to take a heck of a final evolution to make me want the game.
Edit: Not a fan of the leaked evos for the starters. Might skip the game entirely.
