Pokemon Direct : new Pokemon games! Sword / Shield

For those of you who have been holding out on a Switch for various reasons, a handheld only Switch is coming out this September. It'll be $200.

There's a limited edition Pokemon one, too, which is cute.

But as for me, the original Switch is super comfortable in handheld mode plus has the benefit of being able to be plugged into the TV. This revision is not for me. But I thought I'd post for those who might prefer this over the original Switch.

I'm so glad the Switch Lite rumours were true after all! I'm still not totally sold (mostly because I'm not entirely sold on the game itself ) but I could definitely see myself getting one of these. Feels more my sort of thing than the original. I wonder how much they'll cost over here...

Yeah, certainly Team Yell has nothing on Team Skull, who made me laugh.

Glad to see regional forms are back and that - thank goodness - they're not just Gen I Pokemon this time. I hate seeing any Gen I Pokemon used at all, but Galarian Weezing is actually quite amusing.

Regional forms tend to be hit or miss for me (I'd rather see entirely new Pokemon over old Pokemon with a fresh coat of paint... but then some of them can be cute. so idk ) but I'm glad they're using some non-gen 1s this time! That really annoyed me about Alolan forms.

Gotta be honest, I'm underwhelmed by these, too. The Pikaclone thing doesn't do it for me (to be fair the Pikaclones usually don't interest me) but I guess at least they're trying to switch it up a bit with the alt. form? the Pikaclones have been getting really boring and paint-by-numbers since Minun/Plusle so it's nice to see them at least trying to make it something other than "Pikachu BUT A DIFFERENT SPECIES!"

It's just disappointing since I WANT to like this, I want to be excited by it, cause it's Pokemon!! I love Pokemon! But this gen just... isn't doing it for me.

And is it just me or is the Sword/Shield news coming reeeeeeally slowly? I usually don't keep up with the new Pokemon reveals and stuff since I like going into the games blind (the only reason I've been keeping up with the news this time is to try and find something to get excited about x_x) but I could swear there's usually more info by now?? Weird.

Oh, how disappointing. I don't know anyone else IRL that plays Pokemon, online trading is all I can do...

At least the TCG has been exciting recently, lol. So many cool cards being released ^_^

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to trade and battle locally, like with Splatoon and Mario Kart and whatever, but you'll have to buy a NSO subscription to do anything else...
