Unpopular Toy Opinions

Here are some of mine.

I think LOL dolls are silly. Not so much the dolls themselves but the fact that they advertise "10 fun surprises" and most of it is paper/stickers.

I don't like Baby Alive dolls or any drink and wet type of toy.

The only squishy toys I like are Squeezeamals because the foam is sealed inside a stuffed animal.

Blind bag toys like MLPs were fun at first but there's so many now and I don't understand the fun in having to "work" to get your toy like Lost Kitties. I can't bring myself to buy a large blind bag/box item either like the Hairdorables.

I don't like anything in the Poopsie Slime Surprise line

I thought of another pet peeve of mine: I can't stand it that so few doll lines have fashion packs and that if you want a new outfit you have to buy a whole new doll! I just want a few dolls and loads of spare outfits, is that so much to ask? I'm still annoyed that Monster High stopped making fashion packs so early on.

Fake chibi stuff.

Very rarely imo do American toys hit a kawaii/chibi aesthetic. (It goes well beyond anime junk and into generic things like food and animals, but the SM thing is easy to look up on my phone).

They're cute and do go well as dollhouse accessories. So for people who are into making scenes and doll collectors, I'd imagine these are a sturdy, cheap alternative to minatures and rement.

Barbie, Chelsea dolls with painted on tops, look cute on mermaids but not dolls with legs. Plus lack of articulations.

I don't quite get the appeal of animal toys that are purely decorative. By that I mean, they are in a pose that limits how you can play with it. A horse that's laying down can't run, a cat that's curled up and sleeping can't do anything else but sleep. As a kid I even disliked toys that had their head turned sideways which made it look awkward if I tried to have that toy talk to another toy and it wouldn't look at who it was talking to. I get that some figures are meant to be for display only and not for playing, but to me, that's what differentiates toys from stuff like porceline figures - toys are meant to be played with and a toy desings that limit this is in my opinion badly designed.

Now that I'm an adult toy collector, play functionality isn't that important anymore. I certainly own some sitting/laying down/sleeping figures. But I still very much prefer figures that are standing and looking forward, as boring as that "basic pose" is in the eyes of many toy collectors.

Honestly, all the junk they included with Lost Kitties completely put me off the toyline. I don't want to have to dig through a lump of Playdoh to get my kitty!

Totally agreed about Lost Kitties! It doesn't help that I have always hated Playdoh!

I'm also over the blind bag craze. I don't think I'd hate them if most of them weren't so darned expensive.

If this fits here: I really don't like Funko Pops. Although I own a few of my absolute faves, I really don't see the appeal in collecting them.

I don't get spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on a single toy. Like if you've got it, go for it! But its not for me.
