Perhaps fabric softener would help? I've had such strange luck with the hair. Ponies bought in store is garbage hair, but my Sandbar from Ali is completely fine. That red seapony from the Walmart exclusive set has fine hair too. Any time the pony has that plastic band that splays out the hair, the quality is garbage. It's always better when the hair is in an elastic and twisted.

Generally tends to single ponies having worse hair than ones in larger sets, and singles they tend to use the awful plastic band, and sets they usually lean toward elastic bands.
