The Elusive Mexican Nibbles
« on: December 07, 2018, 02:30:29 AM »
A couple of years ago, I acquired a cute little Mexican Baby Dibbles. Obviously since then I have been keeping an eye out on eBay for a Mexican Baby Nibbles to keep her company.
In all that time I have never seen a Mexican Nibbles :O

I see Mexican Dibbles every so often; on one occasion I even saw a bundle of Dibbleses from the same seller, including an unpainted one that was advertised as a prototype. But no Nibbles!

Does Mexican Nibbles actually exist ? Is she only ever for sale on eBay at times when I'm not on there? Is it all a conspiracy?!

More seriously, is there some reason why Dibbles tends to outnumber Nibbles on the second-hand market? After seeing the eBay listing with the prototype, I wondered if maybe the factory created extra Dibbles for some reason; is that a thing that could happen? (I thought I saved a picture from that auction but my phone says no.)

Also, I like to call my Nirvana/foreign ponies by names in the appropriate language, and I also enjoy collecting random foreign pony names :). Does anyone know what Dibbles and Nibbles were called in Mexico/any other Spanish-speaking country for that matter?

I actually just checked the My Little Wiki + Data.Mlp merch and Nibbles' photo seems to be missing from the pages
It's super odd why Dibbles is always for sale but Nibbles seems to be nonexistent, maybe the set was sold with a completely different pony?

She exists.  An ebay listing for a tailless one ended early last month.

Not sure about the amount of Mexican Nibbles & Dibbles but I can help with the names. They were called Nib and Dib... I know, not very original  I saved a pic of the box while ago (not mine)

Actually, it seems that only 2 pair os twins were published in Mexico (the ones that are named in the box) but the company didn't bother to make a new picture so I think its kind of cruel. I imagine kids would've wanted other twins showed in the box and the confusion of not finding them anywehere

In Spain, at least, no twins were published ever. Only the single newborn ponies, such a pity!

Good to know that she does actually exist, even if she does only turn up on eBay when I'm not buying ponies *grumble grumble*

Perikoala, thanks for the names and the box picture! Dib and Nib are quite cute names, though lacking the exoticism of the Italian equivalents Guendalina and Filiberto

Have you thought about saving the search on eBay so they'll send you a notification if any new sales pop up? :)

I hope you'll be able to get her one day and it's good to know she exists lol

We only had 2 sets of twins from that set of 6 in the UK too - Nibbles & Dibbles  and Sniffles & Snookums. But at least Hasbro UK did the decent thing and designed a special box with only those two sets pictured! I didn't know there were 4 other sets until I found DV in 1997 ;)

I always think the Mexican newborns look like they've been to some wild and probably illegal party...

I'd love to have nibbles and dibbles, but I would go crazy not having them together!

I only have two Mexican ponies - the purple prince and Medley - and both of them look fairly sane, but every newborn I've seen...especially this set of twins. I saw one at ponycon a year or so ago and I swear, we were all talking about what wild antics she must have got up to because she was totally zoned out. I don't know much about Mexican ponies so I don't know if I'm lucky with the two I have or if it's just that the newborns are more extreme.

But then that's also a point of appeal. It gives them a special expression that's kind of unique ;)

My Dib was in bait condition and had had her eyes painted over, so luckily I didn't have to deal with any strange expressions! (She now has detachable twinkle eyes held on with Blue-tack since I didn't feel confident enough in my restoration abilities to start using paint/glue on a Nirvana pony. Also she enjoys creeping out the other baby ponies by taking her eyes off ). But I was just looking at eBay and I saw an incredibly wild-eyed Mexican Skydancer. Obviously the ponies got up to strange and wild parties in that Auriken factory....

My hunt for Nib continues, and I have set an alert on eBay. She can't evade me forever! I still wonder why so many lone Dibs turn up for sale. One of life's pony collecting mysteries.

I wonder is it possible they were sold separately? Because that would explain why one is more common than the other. Or is there proof the mexican newborn twins were sold together?

Is nibbles the pink one? I’ve got one and her hooves are completely blank, what country will she likely be?
