Removing discoloration?
« on: November 21, 2018, 07:49:04 PM »
I have seen threads saying about how the G1 Repro Rainbow Ponies are discoloring from the scent. Has anyone tried to get rid of the discoloration? I kinda want some but I don't want to bother if I can't restore them back to normal.

I haven't seen anyone try... I don't know how their plastic would react to sunfading or if it would even do anything. If you get any, I would air them out, especially if you decide to keep them MIB. That might help a little.

I guess you could try a little acetone?  I'm guessing the discoloration is caused by the "scented-ness".  Not sure how it's applied at the factory, though.

When I get mine (they are for Christmas - so long to wait!) I plan on deboxing them and giving them a gentle wash with soap and water. Hoping this will help to stem the discolouration tide.

I'm just so happy to have them: at one stage it looked as if they were not going to make it to SA.

Mine don't have any discoloration yet, knock on wood . . . I wonder what 'activates' it, or if it's just random.
