Severe pony head/body discoloration???
« on: November 21, 2018, 02:46:06 PM »
I found this pretty severe discoloration on a Twilight I had. Does anyone know what this is and how it might have happened? Can it be fixed or not? I'm not really concerned tbh as it is just a Twilight. If you are wondering, I got this Twilight from the same lot as Blossomforth.

Not easily! You might have limited success with sunfading, but there's not really much you can do. Unfortunately, purple/magenta ponies are just more prone to discoloration.

Is it an early Twilight? Twilight Sparkles from the first couple years of G4 often had pretty noticeable head/body mismatches, not really sure if anything could be done as that's just how they were when they were made.

I think some G4s from the earlier years had mismatches MIP iirc...
I'd say it's a factory flaw, yours may have worsened over time too. It seems like that lot was played with :)

Somehow I read the title as "Severed pony heads as decorations" at first, LOL!

A lot of G4 ponies had head / body mismatch from day one, due to their heads being made of a different type of plastic than their bodies.  The first year of the line was probably the worst for it (which is too bad because they had some awesome pony designs . . . but yeah, very prevalent mismatches.)

And yeah, it can also worsen over time.  I have one early Twilight where her head got much paler.  She now looks like she's seen a ghost, ha ha.
