Another (small) problem with Blossomforth
« on: November 07, 2018, 11:09:26 PM »
As I said in one of my previous posts, Blossomforth (G4) was one of the ponies I received from an ebay auction back in May. She was in the worst condition ever as her hair was a mess. Also, although not so common for G4s, Blossomforth has a very small amount of tail rust.  -_- For awhile, I really wanted to do something about this but did not want to ruin her value further as the process would require removing her head and tail. Is there any "safer" way to fix this?  :(

Ugh sorry I rlly don't know how to add pics...
So I linked it instead if that's okay.

I'm not really sure how to remove the tail rust without removing the washer and yeah g4s you have to remove their head...It's honestly probably more important right now to get the tail rust out so I think it's more of a priority to do that rather than preserving it since if the tail rust gets bad enough the washer can denigrate and bits of rust can spring off into the pony's body and cause a rust spot there. However, if the tail rust is really that minor you could probably just opt to leave it alone...Sorry if this didn't help much, it's sort of a sticky situation with g4s D:

I thought all G4 ponies had plastic tail clips (holders)

Thanks, at this point, I honestly don't know if I should cure the tail rust or leave it alone. Removing it would obviously mean removing the head and neckplug and gluing them back together in the end like one would do when customizing. Then again, the value of this early release would decrease  :yikes:  Lol, I might aswell buy a new one.

Yeah, I wish there was a different way to have swivel heads without having the neckplugs...makes it hard to restore. Honestly, you might be able to list her and get some moola from her to buy another one. Or you could restore her and keep her in your collection? It's up to you, though. I hope you find a good solution!  ^.^

Yeah, G4s are kind of a lot to deal with. It makes what a simple fix in G1s are to an ordeal. If you just remove the tail rust on the outside, it doesn't guarantee the rust will go away, and any water nearby may make the rust worse.
I too suggest listing her to get another one if you don't want to go through the effort of restoring her, although it may be worth giving a shot (maybe on some less expensive ponies first to get used to removing the plugs).

Thank you, I might actually do that and honestly would have sold or traded Blossomforth on here if I were old enough.  :)

You can remove the visible tail rust by scrubbing it with a toothbrush and whitening toothpaste.  I do this fairly often when I have reasons that I can't or don't want to remove a head.  If you keep her dry it may not come back, and if it does it'll take quite awhile.

Nope. A lot of the early ones had the metal washers. The factories only seem to us plastic ones when they seem to run out of the metal ones for a batch of ponies. As for the clips that keep the tail together.. other than fakies I have never see anything but metal clips in ponies XD
