I've been wanting to start customising Breyers, namely repositioning limbs and such, but am finding it difficult to source information and advice about the best tools and techniques.
I'm considering three different methods of cutting the model:
1. Hacksaw
2. Wood burning tool with blade attachment
3. Dremel kit
I'm leaning towards the wood burning tool, it's cheaper than a dremel and might have better control/accuracy. But I don't want to risk melting my models instead of cutting.
I already have a heat gun from previous projects, so I'll be using that to actually reposition the limbs.
When it comes to sculpting to finish I'm thinking of using Selleys Knead-It epoxy putty. I know it's not as ideal as Apoxie Clay or Magic-Sculpt, but I can't find anywhere to source them and don't want to buy a big amount if I'm only starting.
I wish I had an airbrush. Does anyone have a reasonably priced beginner brand they can recommend that's available in Australia? (no Amazon.us links please)
Does anyone here customise Breyers and have some expert advice they could share with me? Thanks!
