Minty_Magic's Holiday Crafts- It's Pony Time! (12/4)

(1/3) > >>

Minty_Magic:
It's that time of the year again! I guess I hadn't updated my original craft thread for a long time so it's locked now, but it's probably cleaner if I just keep things restricted to one year anyway! :P

Update 12/4:
Moondancer is done! :)

I gave her a glittery symbol to match the real moondancer, and for some extra pizzazz! I just hope it will hold up okay!

I gave her some blush too, I felt her face needed more color. I'm not 100% sold I love it though, I might paint over it.

I'll have to try and get some pics of them outside next! They're pretty spread out, but hopefully with some more additions in coming years it'll be a big pony party!
Update 11/20:

It's time to start working on Christmas ponies! I'm way ahead of the game this year and already have one done! I'd like to introduce Masquerade into my little collection!

She's a hefty girl, I think I may have made her bigger than my past ponies.

She even has a twinkle eye! I couldn't find any rhinestone big enough for her whole eye, but I think this works just as well.

Up next I think I'll do Moondancer!

Halloween now under spoiler, to keep things clean! ;)
SpoilerTo kick off the holidays I've been working on some stuff for Halloween! First off here's some really rough lineart for one of my yard decorations. I'm going to make the Hatbox Ghost from the Haunted Mansion this year!

For Refernce, here are some of my past ghosts I've done. He will become a wood cut out like them.

Next I'm WAY ahead of the game on pumpkin carving! I've decided to go artificial this year, I hate seeing all my hard work rot away a couple days later on the real thing. :( The artificial pumpkins are shockingly not the much different from the real thing. They're a styrofoam so it's much cleaner, but other than that I really didn't have to change my technique much! I'd argue they may even be easier, there's not as much to cut away!

Here he is lit up. The light I bought changes color, so I manged to capture it on Orange. I think I need something better though.

And here's a Pluto I carved last year in a real pumpkin. I'm actually shocked at how different they look! To be fair I used slightly different lineart, but I still think I got much cleaner lines this year and better contrast when its lit up. I guess I have actually improved a little! :P

Thanks for looking! :) There will be plenty more to come over the next few months! After my ghost, if I have time, I think I might try and do another artificial pumpkin, with ponies this time of course! ;)

Griffin:
The ghost will look stunning when finished! Love your Pluto pumpkin too. I've never carved a pumpkin... always wanted to try but I never get round to it. :P I love looking at them, though!

tailrustedtealeaf:
Styrofoam isn't a bad idea-I'm terrible at carving on real pumpkins.
I can't wait to see the ghost as a cut-out!

RandomPony:
Nice! Some of these are pretty cool!

Minty_Magic:
Thanks everyone! Sorry for the long delay, I started a new shift and had to rework my arts and crafts time, but I still managed to finish everything in time for Halloween!
Here's my hatbox ghost all finished up!

And because I have zero sense of time, I decided I was going to do the grandfather clock from The haunted mansion too. :P I'm pretty proud, I managed to finish the whole thing in about a week!

I'm pretty proud of the new additions! I think they really helped tie the theme together and our house is looking pretty spooky! Here are the others I did in the past on display this year!

The clock now sits right behind the three hitchhiking ghosts.

Thanks for looking! Up next it's probably time to start on some Christmas ponies! I'm thinking I'm going with G1 this year!
