This reminds me of how Beast Wars was named Beasties in the 90s, LOL.

"BEASTIIIIIIIES!  BEASTIIIIIIES!"  Doesn't quite have the same ring.

Teenage mutant HERO turtles...

Though it is also the case that words have different nuances in different places. Maybe not this one though...

Spoiler
BECAUSE WE NEED TO PROTECT THE VIRGIN EARS OF THE YOUNGINS

...because parents allow things like MLP raise their children. Heaven forbid that some parents have to teach their children that "fools" is a word that was not very nice.

I think it's great how blood can't be red, or can't be there are all. Oh, and nor can there be any instance of a lit cigarette, or cigarettes need to be removed entirely. Goes along with parents sucking as mentors to their children about that terrible "fools" insult.

I think it would have been better for Starlight to have been back-handed and sickly sweet about it. It doesn't change the nuance- she's still being a jerk, but apparently a villain calling a bunch of people, "smartie pants," or, "sweetly simple ponies," is less of an insult when you hear it, I guess.

It's on the level of calling someone a "poo-poo head". I am SO SORRY that children were almost exposed to such traumatic language. You do that due diligence, Treehouse TV! Thanks for keeping the world safe from such damaging lingo. They may hear worse anywhere else, BUT NOT FROM HERE, non?

Oy.

Excuse me as I compete for the gold in the eyeroll event of the Olympics.

I don't see where saying "fools" was so bad it had to be censored. It's not very nice but a lot of cartoons have characters mildly insulting each other. It make me wonder if that channel would also censor Charlie Brown because they often call each other "blockheads"

On top of that, it makes what Starlight said 10 times worse. Wonder if they censored when Fluttershy said "peeved" too? I thought changing "cider" to "juice" was bad.

From what I've heard, the cider to juice change makes sense. While the states uses it to refer to non-alcoholic cider, many countries use cider to refer to strictly alcoholic cider. They don't have the distinction of hard cider that we do, or it is just less commonly used. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Here, treehouse censors a lot. I get it since the network is aimed at preschool to early elementary children. But fools honestly? It isn’t that bad of a word. It’s not a nice thing, but it’s better than most of the language I hear parents use around their children.
This. Sentence. Is. False! Dontthinkaboutitdontthinkaboutit.

Even so, it's censored all over, not just where it would be an issue. Plus, it's only that episode. I haven't heard any other instances of that occurring.

This is true, actually, much like in many places “lemonade” can mean any sort of citrus-flavored drink, even things like Sprite count.

Also the image linked is super funny to me. I can hear her in my head ACTUALLY dropping the F bomb. Anywho this is 16 kinds of stupid, it’s like the lady in daycare who told me not to say “stupid!” Normally I’m indifferent to peoples’ preferences but it takes a special sort of person to say that “fools” is akin to cussing.

The cider/juice thing is particularly hilarious since the scenario only works if it's non-pasteurized cider (or Granny Smith was lying to them [irony when you think of the overarching theme of the episode] and just wanted to keep their direct sales).

This is an example of going too far.  It is stupid and frankly unhelpful.  She's a villain being a villain.  The fact she's insulting people is par for the course.  Kids are going to here these words in real life.  They're going to here much worse in real life.

This reminds me of a video I saw about the Funimation dub of Dragonball Z . . . The original had a lot of death, but in the dub they would just pretend people dead on the ground were still alive by dubbing in heavy breathing sounds or saying they'd gone to another dimension. Those changes at least sort of make sense though . . . but they also made censorship changes to the animation, including some weird choices like when Goku was thinking of apple trees in a thought bubble.  Sensing a real anti-apple bias with these censors, lol.
