Painted dolly mix ponies? (Pic heavy)

Hi everyone,
I found these dolly mix ponies at the car boot, and their bodies are painted! Their symbols are on top so I don’t think the previous owner painted them. On scootaloo you can see the dents in the paint, and Toola Roola and cheerilee both have matte, uneven (paint globs) bodies. Their heads are normal. It doesn’t show well on camera but there is a chip in scootaloo’s paint, and underneath she is yellow! It is the same colour as the lps dog’s body, and not the same as her head!

Anyone have any clue what happened to these? Are they just from a funny batch?

They are super neat! I also got 2 pinkies and a sweetie belles but they appear normal, I really don’t know what happened

i have a few scootaloo's hand painted also. I thought they were production samples, since mine came directly from the warehouse in China. But, now I'm not sure. Great find!

Thanks Carrehz! They’re pretty weird, like why would you paint a mass produced toy that costs £2?

Interesting, I know the ponies were made in China but I’m only 20 mins from the company so production samples probably aren’t too far fetched. It seems odd that batches of them would be painted! Are yours the same, with heads normal and bodies painted?
