The Mane 6 and Height

All throughout FIM all the mane 6 have been smaller than all the other adults, as if they're still teenagers or maybe very young adults.  The only ponies they aren't bigger than are the baby ponies.  I realize Cadence, Luna, and Celestia are princesses who have been around longer than say Twilight but what got me thinking this was Tempests's song Open Up Your Eyes when she calls Twilight Little One like she's still a baby or something.

What are your thoughts?

I consider them young adults, the pony equivalent of early 20s.
Young enough to still be learning life lessons for the kids, but also living alone and holding down a job.

Also, at Rainbow Dash's birthday party there were 21 visible canldes on her cake (if I recall correctly).

My partner asked me the other day why the princesses were so much taller than everyone else. They're essentially immortal so I guess they've had time to grow? He asked if Twilight will end up like them, probably not on show but in universe possibly? But perhaps it's not just age that contributes to stature, perhaps power (magical/political) does as well in the Equestrian universe.

I also consider the Mane 6 young adult ponies who are old enough to have finished school, hold down jobs and live on their own. I think most of the other ponies are the same size but they are shorter than the princesses. Cadence is probably the 2nd youngest princess.

I think Tempest was calling Twilight "Little One" not because she thought Twilight was still a baby but because Twilight believed she and her friends could fight Tempest and save Equestria. In Tempest's eyes Twilight's belief  in her friends was foolish and ultimately failed since Tempest was able to capture and cage Twilight. Tempest is taunting Twilight trying to prove to her that counting on friends is worthless and show Twilight how powerful she is since she gave up on friendship.

They are the same size as most other adult ponies, though! E.g. Mrs Cake, the Mayor, Granny Smith.

I thought Tempest was just calling her little one to make her feel inferior to her *shrugs*
I try not to think about the Mane 6's ages too much because it confuses me

I go with young adults, maybe around 25 though? Rarity has started a business, after all. And now they're all teachers. Hm.

I’d say early twenties. Old enough to not go to school as students, but not terribly old either, as rainbow dash is supposedly 21 years old, based on her birthday cake. As for height, I’ve always thought the mane 6/standard size mares like Pony, starlight, roseluck, etc, were somewhere around 4 foot 6 inches tall. It seems like a reasonable number.
