Question about princess variants
« on: September 01, 2018, 02:00:10 PM »
Hi all!

Since I am not good with princess variants at all I wonder if there is a variant of Princess Royal Blue without any glitter in her tail.

I hadn't even thought about it until I received one WITH glitter in her tail.
Checked quickly on the MLPWiki and couldn't see mine.

Thankful for any input.

Ahhh Princess variants ^.^

I need to sort out the spotlight for that and share it here

Does she look like regular Princess Sapphire? Just no tinsel/glitter in her tail? What are her hoof marks? Where did you find her? Does she rattle when you shake her?

There are several in the nirvana gallery and a few more exist, but are not shown:

http://mlparena.com/archive/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=351415

The princess tail is made in two parts, they are in fact two thinner tails, one is very thin and has hair and tinsel, the other part is just hair. It is possible she never got the part of her tail that has the tinsel in, some child pulled the tinsel out (I have found this before now! the "roots" are left inside) or her whole tail came out and only that part got placed back.

What a princess tail looks like :)

Thanks for your reply PKW  :inlove:

She looks normal with the same stamps as my other one, but with a really full tail - just no tinsel.
Doesn't rattle or anything either.
Bought most of my ponies in fleamarkets or German ebay (cheaper shipping than most other ebays XD )
And since I've had her for what feels like forever (15+ years) I am guessing she's a flea market find.

Her glue is pretty tight so I don't feel like ripping her open atm :/

Never knew their tails looked like that  :dropjaw:

No problem ^.^

Do they have PAT  PEND under their feet at all?

Please don't remove her head if it is tight on, Princess heads can be tricky to remove.

Haha I am glad you enjoyed seeing the tail of a princess pony ^.^ it surprised me the first time I saw it as well, it also answered a lot of questions as well. Many of the princess variants just have the thin part of the tail with tinsel ;)

my favorite subject in the all world is the princess variants...
and our beloved Pinkkittywinks is a goddess among ponies so....

so she sure can be a variant but just a thought that her previous owner took the tinsels off... I know when I was a kid I took baby explorer tinsels off because she was by my bedside and I was scared from the tinsels as they glow when I slept.... weird boy I was lol...

so it's something also that can explains the nice tail without tinsels

That actually explains so much. I have somewhere a really thin tail that looks just like the one in your picture, with blue and tinsel. Clearly it belongs to Ruby!

And my Ruby, who came from a childhood friend, has uneven ends to her tail. I thought maybe it was put through the washer awkwardly, but clearly it's to do with two separate pieces of tail not quite matched up right.

Very cool...

Makes me wonder why they did it that way, that's surely not how they do it now, is it?
Although it does make the tinsel sort of fall on the underside of the tail, which is neat (at least on my Starburst) rather than dispersed throughout the tail. Maybe that was their intention.

^.^ I knew you'd all love seeing that tail!!

Taffeta: the tail can very easily get caught on the part of the medallion inside the pony, leading to an uneven tail. Yes, many of the princess and some of the happy tails variants got just the thin part of the tail. It gets really fun when you get you'd eye in and you can identify who the tail was originally intended for *geeks out*

Tealeaf: I've had the head of A LOT of ponies over the years and from memory only the Princess ponies (first and second edition) have this twin tail. It does indeed mean that in some cases the tinsel will be in one section of the tail.

The Sparkle ponies, Bride, Eyelash Princesses, Starlight Babies and such all have a single tail with the tinsel blended through out

The G3 and G4 ponies have single tails with tinsel blended in.

I cannot recall what a G2 tail with tinsel is like >_<
