Let's Go Pikachu / Eevee
« on: August 30, 2018, 08:07:43 AM »
I'm super hyped for these games as I've been meaning to use my switch more. Anyone here getting it? Which version? I'm Team Eevee all the way.  :P

Definitely planning to get the Eevee version! I hardly use our switch so it will probably get me to finally use it more often.

Same here on the lack of switch use, I just don't have many games I want to play. I have Splatoon but I really only play once in a while.  :P

Hubby has had our Eevee pre-order on file pretty much since they became available (with a second pokeball set so we can each have one to play with).

I've got Eevee pre-ordered on Amazon. Really sounds like I should've pre-ordered Pikachu since Eevee is so popular, but I got my pre-order for $20 off so I really don't wanna change it and lose the savings.

I did have Eevee version preordered, but I cancelled my preorder when I found out that the game won't let you evolve your starter, or box him/her, or have fun.

>Gen 1 AGAIN
>Safari Zone is cut
>Sevii Islands is absent
>No breeding
>Only 151 Pokémon
>152nd is DLC in the form of a dumb gimmicky $50 controller FOR A GAME THAT ALREADY COSTS $60 AT LAUNCH
>$60 game despite less content than games on the Gameboy/GBA from over a decade ago
>Only Pokémon that can be traditionally battled in the wild are legendaries
>Friendly rival instead of Blue
>absurd levels of extreme casualization, insulting the player:
>Exp share works like Gen 6+ but is required and can't be turned off (People who said "Just turn easy-mode features off" lost the game)
>PC is in your bag
>Rival gives you free potions/everything
>No abilities
>No held items
>Every gym has a requirement to get in
>so you have to have a Pokemon that'll steamroll the gym in your party before you can even challenge the gym
>Coop is 2v1 in your favour
>All trainers have less Pokémon
>All trainers have lower level Pokémon
>You only need a single button and an analog stick to play the entire thing
>Laziness/soullessness everywhere:
>Won't bother to even make the model of a fossil Aerodactyl in the museum, which they did in 1996
>Meh graphics
>NPC animations are mostly stiff and have no personality and instead have a handful of cheap emotes
>Lazy one-to-one reproduction of a Gameboy map designed around Gameboy limitations
>Coop produces frame drops (what even is optimization? at this point it's only slightly better than the 3ds)
>Battle animations have less personality than Pokemon Stadium 2 decades ago
>Battle animations are lazy, like Pikachu's Double Kick (wherein they simply move his model straight up without even a jump animation) and Blastoise's Hydro Pump (which doesn't come out of his cannons)

At this point, I seriously think grabbing the eshop versions of RBY would be a better deal.

You're not wrong SilverStarApple. These games are just not good and it's very disappointing to see GameFreak go down this path.

But then they hit my weak spot... Which might be a spoiler for some, but it was officially revealed in a trailer recently, so, I'll just express it in a meme =P :

It has been a long-time annoyance of mine that Leaf has been not only sidelined but completely absent post FireRed/LeafGreen. I know she wasn't in the original games, but there was artwork for the character that became her back in Gen I (that design is what she is based off of in LGP/E). It was really bad in HG/SS that there was no option to battle her instead of Red. People used the "she wasn't in the originals" argument, as if the staying 100% true to the original argument can be applied to a game where the original Gen II female protagonist from Crystal was replaced by a new one, Lyra.

Years and years of Gen I pandering, and poor Leaf was just left out for Red this, Red that. It's bizarre that they decided to add her in LGP/E, then. I can't help but feel like it's just to try to bring over people like me.

...But even still I haven't bought the game. I haven't caved in. There's so much bad about the games, it's not even funny. I really don't want Lets Go to become a series. GF could do so much better. Spending money on the game would send the message that it's okay to continue the series, and Leaf probably won't show up again either way. =(

Huh wait what it's out?
I'm a bit tentative to pick it up, I'd rather get Smash if I had to choose, it seems like the game didn't quite hit expectations.

Oh, that's nice that they brought back Leaf, at least! I've always liked her design - now if only they could bring back Kris... (Don't get me wrong, I love Lyra, but I wish she hadn't come at the cost of throwing poor Kris under the bus :c)

I'm tired of all this gen 1 shilling. Give me Let's Go Trubbish :P

So I have bought the Let's Go Eevee game and I have to say it's pretty fun! It is definitely meant for a much younger audience with how easy everything is but this game has a lot of charm!

I don't mind the gen 1 pandering since it is the gen I grew up with.

The graphics in my opinion are really nice, it does bring a new life to the kanto region. Sure they aren't super in depth but neither were Pkmn Colosseum and Pkmn DX for the gamecube and those games did really well!

I'm loving the co-op cause my boyfriend and I can play the game together rather than being against each other. Something I hope they bring back in the later games.

Spoiler
Not sure if this would be considered spoiler but just in case.
But with eevee as my partner I can see the my eevee is different form the others. Like wild/opponents ones are darker in color and have darker eyes which I thought was really neat! As mine is lighter coat and purplish eyes.

Also with catching pokemon if you aren't careful they do run away!

So far I'm honestly enjoying the game! It's fun and it has quite a lot of new features that make the game imo fresh! So please don't be intimidated on getting the game.

Is it worth the price? I usually buy new pokemon games without hesitation, but 60$ is a lot for a remake of a game that's available for 10$ (not to mention that Kanto has technically been remade 3 times already). Is there enough new content besides the added adorableness?
